Sao Paulo.- Brazilian police say they have busted a ring that allegedly sent some 200 women in the last year to the United States, Europe and elsewhere to work as prostitutes.

According to Leandro Daiello Coimbra of the federal police in Sao Paulo, nine Brazilians and one American were arrested in Brazil on Friday. Two more Americans were detained in the United States. Coimbra gave no further details on the arrests.

Coimbra says most of the women were recruited through the Internet or Brazilian brothels and then sent to Las Vegas, the Dominican Republic and France. He says the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and Interpol helped dismantle the gang.

The 12 suspects risk up to eight years in prison for organising prostitution, deriving earnings from prostitution, human trafficking and belonging to a criminal enterprise. Another three suspects were being sought in the Dominican Republic and in France.

The mistake that gang did was to send prostitutes into the United States. The U.S. is not a "prostitute friendly" type of country. There are vice squads in every major city in the U.S. fighting prostitution. Their premice is that prostitution is related to other serious crimes such as drug dealing. Prostitution is legal in Holland (Amsterdam's Red Light District). I wonder if Holland has found a solution to prostitution. The prostitutes pay taxes, are confined in one area of town and are tested for STD's on a regular basis. This frees up the police so that they can concentrate on more serious crimes.

Is it no wonder....Sex sells, it's all about $$$$ and survival.
The chick pictured who is dressed ready for action would probably make a fortune in the DR resorts, or at least get plenty of cat call comments on the Streets of the DR by the City locals everywhere.

Besides the Amsterdam approach would ruin the Male dominant Dominican Sex Mentality towards Women.

God save the DR, from ourselves.

Docpeters,
What do you mean: "The mistake that gang did was to send prostitutes into the United States. The U.S. is not a "prostitute friendly" type of country. There are vice squads in every major city in the U.S. fighting prostitution."
Prostitution is legal in Nevada... There are far more prostitutes in the US than anywhere in the world. They are just a click away from your home.

The mentality of the Dominican woman has advanced and many are looking for more stable and long-term progress, not just making a quick buck. We all know that we live in a globalized world and a woman that wants to make it does not have to sell her body. Education, working decent jobs, remittances sent from abroad or even marrying a foreigner and raising a family abroad are better options.

NO DISRESPECT, BUT..
"More stable Long term progress" sounds like until a better one comes along, what ever happened to a true love Relationship. Dominican Male standards, I just hope She isn't number 2 or 3 on his used hit list. Not selling there body's.......but renting them hourly, I was shocked when a nice young classy, well educated hooker asked me about her services....for extra money only "It's gotta be da money".

My mistake I should have known better those respectable Young Lady's in the picture are really models for a T.V LEGGS stocking commercial.

I'm sure the Dominicanos in New York act and treat Woman a lot different then the ones back home [ at least in Public not private ]. Not to sound like a Dominican back home but....... I willing to bet employers in the DR not only hire the smart ones, but the best looking smart ones.

Dominicanchic the sad reality is among Men the World over everybody knows about Dominican Woman and their "LUST FOR THE BUCK"
Take c

I was quite surprised to learn recently that the DR is getting an influx of prostitutes not only from Brazil, but also from Colombia and Venezuela. WOW, what a different world!! Everything now is globalized. I wonder what is it the thing they are coming out with next?

Nothing surprises me any more. Many claim by legalizing the trade it would solve things, I tend to disagree, what would be the message to Young teenage Girls. Nothing like the negative attitudes Dominican Men foster towards Women in general it's shocking.
I was brought up to respect Women and in turn I have passed this on to my Children. The DR does need the added problems associated with such behavior, if seeing is believing then WE have become a blind Nation.
With so many Fatherless Children in the DR We have come full circle only to be repeated, what will it take, Reality is Children will always go back to the way they were raised.

God save the DR, even from ourselves.
