Port-au-Prince.– US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented a united stance with
Haitian President Rene Preval during her visit Saturday to the
quake-devastated capital, CNN reported.
Clinton, the highest-ranking U.S.
official to visit the country since Tuesday's 7.0-magnitude quake,
sought to assure the Haitian people that the United States is working
with the government "to assist in every way we can."
"We are
here at the invitation of your government to help you," she said. "As
President Obama has said, we will be here today, tomorrow and for the
time ahead."
According to CNN, Clinton said she and Preval will issue a joint communique Sunday "setting forth our intention to cooperate together."

Hillary: Your excellency is it kind of dark here.....where are you?
Preval: I am here under my desk, aftershocks you know, it is still not safe, .....(sobbing) my palace is gone (sobbing).......my house is gone, (now in big tears and moaning) my safe at home is buried in the rubble, I need to get help quickly to get the money out!
Hillary: Mr. Preval we are here to help the people of Haiti, not search for the contents of your safe!
Preval: You no good American imperialist, Danny Glover said it, is all your fault and the CIA, and global warming. Now I will call my friend Hugo and Fidel immediately!
China already sent a plane with $5,000,000 dollars in cash, that I am safekeeping!

Right....because we, the United States, really see the strategic value in Haiti. It is the perfect country for us to occupy so that we can....maintain exclusive access to.....what? Barren land? Or maybe we can use it to launch imaginary invasions of Venezuela......
It really irks me that the U.S. catches heat for doing the humanitarian thing..... My president just pledged $100 million U.S. taxpayer dollars for Haiti (on top of the 3 billion we've sent over the last 15 years), sent relief workers, soldiers, material aid....and now we want to occupy? And if we sent nothing you would have been screaming from the hills that the U.S. is insensitive and doesn't care about it's poor neighbors in the Caribbean. I ask, thus far in the wake of this crisis what nation has done more for Haiti than the U.S?

Are you ready to make a point?
In my sarcastic remarks I stated that the U.S. doesn’t have strategic interest in Haiti. Until you show me undeniable proof to the contrary I’ll continue to express that belief. By your comments I think it safe to assume you’re anti-American. Fair enough.
You bring up atrocities committed against Native Americans. Okay. You make references to the former Batista regime in Cuba. Got it. To both issues I say….no me importa. Why? Because my country, in it’s current formulation, is not its history. Your fickle logic seems to imply that a country is its history, and despite any current or future actions it can be nothing more than its history. My country, at present, is not anchored to policies it pursued hundreds of years ago. So your efforts to bring the war against the Native Americans and support to a cruel, despotic Batista government into the conversation are meaningless to me......
From: Germany, Stuttgart
....I brought up two points in my post….the first, above, was that the U.S. government has zero strategic interest in Haiti.
My second point is that the U.S. is receiving undue criticism for simply giving humanitarian aid to a country that has been decimated by a natural disaster. The U.S. has given 3 billion U.S. taxpayer dollars to Haiti over the last 15 years. My president has made a fresh commitment of 100 million taxpayer dollars within the past few days. The U.S. government has also sent the most in terms of material aid to Haiti since Tuesday. All adding up to one major humanitarian gesture on part of the United States.
You failed to address any of those points. You did, however, make an excellent effort at deflecting and distracting from the conversation by bringing up Native Americans, Cuba, and now Whitewater.
Now if you would like to address the undue criticism I’m all ears.
From: Dominican Republic
And what did your benevolant Uncle Sam do for the millions of displaced Cubans in thier back yard last year after the island was devastated by 2 hurricanes ? ABSOLUTAMENTE NADA AMIGO ! Why ? because sticking it up Fidels crack and making an imperialist statement to the world for a bruised ego that has yet to recover , is far more important than millions of suffering people . And please dont go there, because there may be just as many Haitians living in Miami as there are Cubans. The reality is that if Castro hadn't rode in to town ,Cuba might have a sign on its front door that says ''AMERICAN owned and operated since 1949 ''. Furthermore , if your present day goverment has not adopted the policies of its our forefathers, than why the hell are we still living with an almost useless, outdated lunch pale constitution in the internet age . They didnt see that one coming , did they ?
From: Germany, Stuttgart
Hmmmm.....I read your last post three times heartbeat.....I still don't see anything about the undue criticism and how the U.S. government is aiding the Haitian people reeling from this natural disaster. I don't think that's such a difficult task.

The problems is that many people are confuse in their capitalistic brain but at the same time take great concerned to profit from the misseries of others. Haiti has had an international force for some decades and during that time period all the money and aids has gone to a privileged few. The U.S. is an opportunistic nation with little concerned for the poor who make up the majority. So, as Chaves had said the U.S. send soldiers instead of doctors while other nations such as Venezuela have donated mateials and doctors. Sure the U.S. play its parts by having its citizens play humanitarians roles. The dead are dead, the injured need to be treated while the rest are left to fence on their own. Those who hold the wealth of Haiti care less about their own people and when all the dust is settle they will send the Cubans and Venezuelens out in a somewhat diplomatic gesture. The people that don't like socialism is cause they don't want to share and prefer the money they put into

their pockets. They don't stop with just one pocket so they continued accumulating wealth while their citizens starve and run off to other countries in search for food. Now this thing happens in Haiti and suddenly all of these countries and people want to pretend that they had no knowledge of how Haiti has been for so many decades. All of these countries are there for one porpuse and that is to create a Haiti that will moved towards their way of government and of course the U.S. will not allowed for Haiti to moved in the direction of a Cuba or a Venezuelan. How much will these countries influence the Hatians in adopting a more humane concerned for its own citizens will be the challenge of tomorrow. If the Hatian government when its put together does not adopt some form of social programs it will remain a country in ruin for many more decades to come.
From: Germany, Stuttgart
I guess Haiti needs all of those nice social programs like in Cuba..... The free lunches that help carry families who subsist on a salary of $25 a month....oh wait.....those have nearly been eliminated...back in September '09. Thanks, Raul. Or maybe this is like the coupon books that help support poor Cubans, providing basic food stocks... Huh....oh, yeah....I forgot. Many items are now being removed from that list. Including potatoes and peas. Thanks, Raul.
Sure hvargas....my country has only sent troops. I guess all of that money for rebuilding....all of that water and rations to feed the injured and homeless, all of those Texas, Florida, and North Carolina, based doctors working to treat the wounded at Sacred Heart Hospital in Puerto Principe (also lobbying to move critical patients to Miami hospitals), all of those helicopters to move supplies around are figments of the collective imagination of the world. Right? Throw more spin out there.....
From: Germany, Stuttgart
I understand you're fundamentally opposed to the U.S. foreign policies. I get that. I don't agree with all of my country's foreign policy initiative either. But come on..... If you're going to be anti-American, it's your right. Of course. But be fair. Get your facts straight before you start downing my country for doing the proper thing. I say again, who has done more for Haiti following this tragedy? Get off the Cuba bandwagon. If you want to praise a Caribbean nation for its efforts in helping Haiti look no further than Quisqueya. The RD has open its border to many nations allowing them to base humanitarian operations in a safe secure location. Leonel has done more than Raul. I am by no means a Leonel fan either, but I think he's responded to this tragedy appropriately.

As an American, sole supporter of my family, I have bought uniforms, food, school supplies, shoes, tools, and various items for Dominican families who where struggling and they were always gracious and grateful. As I have struggled this last year to support my own household, I gave money instantly to the island of Haiti to help while small it was all that I could do. I have always found it interesting how the Dominicans on this page attacked the Haitains for "invading" the DR having no compassion for their extreme poverty and lack of oppurtunity. I would think that most Dominicans would understand the desire to educate their children and feed their families. Now in this time I crisis, what Americans are doing is not enough? Maybe since our motives are so awful the island of Hispanolia should deny any assitance that our country, our churches, and our people offer. If you accept our help, then do it graciously..if not say no.
