Humanitarian groups from the Dominican Republic continue to save lives in what remains of Port au Prince
PORT-AU-PRINCE.- Based in an industrial compound near the city’s main airport a 29-strong team from the Dominican Ministry of Health is working tirelessly to treat the unending stream of injured Haitians being brought in from all over the city. The group arrived in Haiti a few hours after the earthquake struck and has been there ever since. One doctor estimated that they treated around 1300 cases in the first week alone.
Another Dominican group comprising volunteers and workers of the Civil Defense, is embedded in the same complex. Their operations range from highly professional rescue missions to the distribution of supplies and assisting the city’s overwhelmed hospitals.
Their search and rescue teams have worked solidly from dawn until dusk every day since the quake. They are under constant pressure as they hurry to free survivors before they succumb to thirst or their injuries. I traveled with the team on a mission to the city centre where they used highly sensitive sound detectors to locate survivors buried under the rubble.
The altruism and camaraderie shown by these Dominicans is truly impressive as they work together in challenging conditions to help the people of Port au Prince. They work as a team and show a high degree of professionalism and efficiency in all of their exploits.
While Port au Prince remains a broken city and stories of horror dominate the news, it is important to acknowledge the acts of heroism performed every day by thousands of selfless people from Haiti and around the world, helping the Haitian people through this time of sorrow.

Let the minority speak for the majority and let the majority learn from the minority and we will all be speechless . I wish my many tears were as many as my empty words and harsh criticisms and that they could be translated into something useful and productive . Again, I eat the humble pie and hang my head low . When those with nothing give themselves to those with less than nothing , we can at last begin to see the intentions and the love of God for His people that are truly acting as His hands and feet through what is so often percieved and misinterperted to be His anger and wrath .

All of the virtues are on display in this ethical performance by Dominican working class and the rest of the masses. .
But righteous indignation stands out the most ... pain at the sight of the misfortune of others when their misfortune is undeseved.
Here, this feeling and perception of righteous indignation turns into action that aims to allay the undeserved misfortune.
This is something rare is bourgeois society.
What distinguishes the actions of the Dominicans in Haiti from the action of the imperialists is the motive of the Dominicans is disinterested while the imperialists are conniving and conspiring to re- establish a military dictatorship similar to the dictatorship the imperialists set up in Haiti between Feb. 2004 and April 2006 under the puppet president Gerard Latortue, a naturalized citizen of the USA and former Florida campaign worker for George W. Bush.

"Dominican teams forge on amidst Port-au-Prince’s carnage"
oooo
The carnage poses a problem as serious as the earthquake.
Haitian and foreign health care teams are in a race against time to prevent outbreaks of diseases related to the carnage. These outbreaks, if they occur, could grow into series of epidemics.
Mass vaccination of the Haitian population is already under way to prevent these carnage-related epidemics. With a Haitian population of 9,000,000 of whom about 4,000,000 extremely affected by the quake, a mass vaccination program is a huge task from the standpoint of supplies, personnel, and transportation.
The ALBA countries, among others, are devoting huge amounts of resources to the mass vaccination effort. This effort is distinct from massive task of treating quake-related injuries.
Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive says 400,000 "families" need health care.

Resident reactionary,
Inability to stick to a topic is either attention deficit disorder or scatterbrainess. But in your case, why would either of these traits manifest itself when the topic is carnage?
Clearly, carnage is something that you are a part of and always stays close to.

I see that the obvious beneficiary of everything the evil empire affords him, including: freedom of speech and association; freedom of the press; etc; etc, is once again expressing his deepest ingratitude to this great nation, USA, while clearly maximizing his enjoyment of everything it offers.
How hypocritical! I hope he will soon revert to self-exile because, frankly, many of us are growing sick of his ingratitude. I would suggest, alternatively, that he join Mucho Loco and VivaCuba and repatriate to Havana. I would make a $100 donation toward that end, gladly.

The USA Patriot Act empowers the bourgeois regime in Washington to imprison anybody in the world for an indefinite period of time, including US citizens, without charge and with no right of counsel and with no right of trial. This Act makes the unauthorized revelation or "whistleblowing" about the exercise of the powers under the Act, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and up to $250,000 fine or both.
A subsequent executive order by Bush opened over 70 concentration camps which now hold over 500,000 political prisoners and POWs. A US law gives the Washington regime the power to torture ... or "enhance" the interrogations ... of the political prisoners and POWs.

It has been demonstrated that some animals, cats for example are more capable of perceiving certain types of geophysical stimuli that precede earthquakes.
It has also been proved that the energy released by the earth during earthquakes is capable to distub certain evil entities: residual and intelligent .

Weak human beings are usually people with anxiety disorder , manic depressive who respond to situations and to people (Haitians) with fear and dread.

So which system of government and countries do you admire? That will help me immeasurably in assimilating your future writings.
I remain much perplexed, however, by an apparent immigrant to US who clearly enjoys and appreciates everything it offers, yet simultaneously opposes everything it stands for.
With all due respect, Belial, you might just be a hypocrite experiencing great denial.
I love this country, and have made it my home, and am willing to die defending it. I have my draft card to prove it, and I was only a young seventeen when I got it, which meant I had to get my parent's permission. I also attained an appointment to the US Naval Academy.

Glomarexplorer,
This country which you love and defend is clearly not the USA.
For the USA is the US people under the US Constitution. Absent the people or the document, you are not talking about this country.
The garbage in power during the Bush and Obama regimes care nothing about the Constitution.
Bush boldly said the Constitution was "nothing but a Godda-- piece of paper." You, no doubt, groveled before Bush and loved him. Obama, more sly than Bush, uses the Constitution as object on which to base his sophistries. Perhaps, you love and defend Obama, too.
Clearly, to you, "this country" which you love and defend is not the US people under the Constitution, but only some US leader above the Constitution.
You exemplify the degree to which US patriotism has degenerated.
