Port-au-Prince.– Haitian police detained 10 Americans Saturday who tried to bus 33 children across the border to the Dominican Republic.
According to Haiti´s Communications Minister
Marie-Laurence Jocelyn Lassegue, the US citizens were taken into custody with the children while
trying to reach the Dominican Republic. "They said consular officials were seeking access to them and
were providing all possible assistance," she said.
The Baptist church members from Idaho said they were trying to save
abandoned children. Group leader Laura Silsby said they paid no money
for the children. She said they had documents from the Dominican
government but did not seek paperwork from Haitian authorities.
"We can't fly anyone without an accepting hospital on the other end,"
said Capt. Kevin Aandahl, spokesman for US Transportation Command.
But Dr. Barth Green of the University of Miami said he had
hospitals ready and waiting, and accused the US government of
endangering the Haitians' lives. "We have 100 critically ill patients who will die in the next day or two if we don't Medevac them," he said.

The story now on the TV is that these people said that the Dominicans had given approval ,but they had no paperwork for the DR and that they were going to an orphanage in the DR ..They said the Americans came from a charity called New Life Childrens´ Refuge and no mention has been made where in the DR the orphanage is located . There was little attempt made by the Americans to seek any remaining parents of the children and the UN has fully backed the decision of the authorities in Haiti ..I doubt if there was proper approval from the DR government .

Haiti is a sad tragedy but here i will digress...the real onging focusof the US should be on the middle east. The isreali's are butchering the Palastinians and stealing there land in Gaza(they have been there over 5000 years). 9/11 was an Islamic extemist response to our middle east foreign policy. Our support of Isreal. We send them a check for over 10 BILLION dollars every year with no stipulations on how it should be spent(education, healthcare, etc). No other country in the world thaat gets "aid" from the USA has a deal like that. Also, since when was Isreal so poor? Why don't we ever hear about these issues in the media? Obama ran on a strong platform of middle east peace with the 2 state solution but has since backed down like the rest of them. He said after becoming president "no more settlements in Gaza". The next week the Isrealis were back at it building settlements the UN has ruled illegal. Obama drew a line in the sand, the Isrealis crossed it, Obama did nothing.

“The goal was to rescue orphaned children who needed help,” Drew Ham, a member of the Meridian, Idaho-based church, said in a telephone interview today. A Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti killed more than 150,000
The group was detained because the children lacked necessary adoption papers from the Haitian government, Laura Silsby, the group’s leader, said in an interview with the Associated Press yesterday. Ham said he has not been able to contact Silsby and is in touch with U.S. State Department officials to obtain information about the legal proceedings in the case. He said he doesn’t know if the group has been charged with any crime.
Silsby was planning to build an orphanage in the Dominican Republic to save Haitian children from the hands of human trafficking groups, a plan that pre-dated the earthquake, Ham said.
“This has been a dream of hers for quite some time,” . “Now it looks like her group was arrested for exactly the crime she wants to help combat.”

Increasingly, US reactionaries, Nazarene or Zionist, explain their actions as inspired by a divine being.
After no WMDs were discovered in Iraq, GWB said "God instructed me to attack Iraq and I did."
A US Zionist caught spying in Cuba says something called God told him to distribute advanced communication devices to Cuban Zionists.
Now, 10 US Nazarenes say something called the "Lord" told them to traffick in humans.
Conventionally, divine beings have a good side that consists of God and angels and bad side that consists of Satan and demoms. But these US citizens always allege that God and angels, the good side of divinity, told the Americans of faith to do something bad. If these US citizens are not lying, then God and angels seem to be turning into evil forces. On the other hand, if the US citizens are lying, one wonders how anybody can be so low as to defame divine beings.
Organizations of Nazarenes, both Catholic and Protestant, have pedophilic reputations.

TRY READING THE TRUTH.....Conviction Angers Abortion Activists
Testifying in his own defense, an unremorseless Roeder insisted he had committed a justified act for the defense of unborn children by killing Dr. George Tiller, one of the country's few physicians to offer late-term abortions. It was a bold legal strategy that, if successful, had the potential to radically alter the debate over abortion by reducing the price for committing such an act of violence.

Roeder faces a minimum sentence of life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 25 years in prison when he's sentenced March 9, although prosecutors will ask the judge to require the 51-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man to serve at least 50 years behind bars before he is eligible for parole. His attorneys plan to appeal, arguing jurors should have been allowed to consider the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter, requiring proof that Roeder had an unreasonable but honest belief that deadly force was justified.
The Rev. Donald Spitz, of Chesapeake, Va., who runs the Army of God Web site supporting violence against abortion providers, said the rejection of that argument has upset those who view Roeder as a hero.
"I know there is not a lot of good feeling out there - everybody is pretty angry," he said.

As the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti is in a difficult spot - it needs aid, but deeply resents foreign meddling. Many have mixed feelings toward Christian groups that funnel hundreds of millions into missions in Haiti.
Christian missionaries alone run or support an estimated 2,000 primary schools attended by some 600,000 students - a third of Haiti's school-aged population, according to government figures. Church groups also run vital hospitals, orphanages and food-distribution sites.

After news came through yesterday that Hollywood film stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had split, the United Nations intervened to try and repatriate the adopted children back to where they had been bought.
"This is a huge operation and we are working against time here. We are mobilizing helicopters, trucks and transport aircraft. The amount of children that Angelina adopted is a force to be reckoned with; some of them from Africa, South America and the Far East. Of course, these gringos will get a slap in wrist and taken to the DR, where they would wait for another chance to go back to business.
" Of course, these gringos will get a slap in wrist and taken to the DR, where they would wait for another chance to go back to business".............Were the red necked honky crackers were harvesting organs ?

American way of thinking. Superiority. Gods own country. Everybody else in this world want to cherish the American dream, hence why educate on other countries culture and custom. When the Americans arrive = 3 X Hurray - problem solved.
do pick it up but dont unpack it.
Can someone please tell these poeple that GOD IS DEAD....
Your inferiority complexes are showing. But then again maybe its not just a complex.
Ricky,
"The second story has been featured on the TV and relates to the cessation of flights to the USA of about 200 critically injured people who urgently need treatment in the USA .There has been a dreadful mess up in the US administration and currently these 200 people are being denied entry to the USA simply because it has not been worked out who will pay ..makes a mockery of all the comments from Obama, Bush and Clinton ..hopefully will be resolved today."
In this tragic and horrific situation in Haiti, with a lot of people needing medical attention.......
Yet another example of the American mentality:
money first or you will die. Disgusting.
As for Dreadlocks, Platano peleo, and blutasky, give it a break boys. Leave all that crap to the Al Sharpton's and Pat Robertson"s of the world. They are doing a f-ing great job of being racists enough for everyone.
Regarding the USA. I am proud of my country most of the time. We are always the first to help and fight other's wars. People don't cross the border TO Mexico in search of a better life for their families (although they are returning b/c no work in US)
Assistance and help to Haiti: Yes, ABSOLUTELY
Integrity and Respect of Dominican laws and borders: Read prior response.

What if these kids were US citizens?
I support Dread's point, but I'd go even further, let's prosecute the Idaho potatoes under Haitian laws first...20 years and then send them to DR for another trial...30 years...That would send a good message to other Human traffickers.
“Now it looks like her group was arrested for exactly the crime she wants to help combat.”
these are the same do-gooders who gunned down a doctor in thier Right to Life belief, but it's those same do-gooders who refuse to feed the child once they are born..
I know the prefect sentece....
BANG BANG
As for the US not accepting any more cases of severely injured people, governor Frist of Florida, a right wing Republican (the same people who brought two wars to the world, as well as almost allowing the world's financial system to melt down) decided on his own that he did not want the inhabitants of hisstate to foot the bill for these survivors medical care so he arbitrarily (consulted nobody) shut down the flights.

In God We Trust...No One else

The Rev. Donald Spitz, of Chesapeake, Va., who runs the Army of God Web site supporting violence against abortion providers, said the rejection of that argument has upset those who view Roeder as a hero.
"I know there is not a lot of good feeling out there - everybody is pretty angry," he said.
WTF...
Yet these same people snear down their nose at the poor and only help is it helps themselves First!!!
No matter if they are mother Theresa reincarnate what they did, and how they did it.....was wrong.

MEDICAL NEEDS: Dialysis Patients/Glucose Strips/Financial Support for Hotels
The dialysis patients have all been evacuated three hours away to Rapid City, SD. They are staying in hotels for at least a week and half, probably longer. The Tribe is looking into reimbursement sources from CMS and IHS, but in the interim financial contributions are needed to help the families pay for their hote
The Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation is one of the most impoverished communities in the United States. http://www.sioux.org<http://www.sioux.org/> It is about the size of Connecticut: yet there are only a handful of generators on the Reservation, the water pump station is down so there is no running water, the gas stations hasn’t been able to pump gas, and the Tribal grocery store has lost all its perishables.
This probably falls in the category of “NO good deed goes unpunished!"
Blu
Details are starting to "get revealed", some of the children's parents were alive.
Nobody should try to force their kind religion on others, this is why some of the Muslim faith, despise so much the "Crusaders", referring to Christians.
Fundamentalism or believing that only you are right all the time, is causing most of the wars on our planet at present.
It's true some of the older kids in the ground have said that they know their parents are still alive and they have given authorities addresses and phone number to where now they have located the parents of some of the kids so to me this doesn't sound like a humanitarian act. This is starting to sound just like I thought child traffic. If a crime was committed then I'm all for maximum sentence to all the criminals involve in it for taking advantage of such disaster to commit heartless crimes like this one.
they are the first one to complaind about amigration ,but they trafficking in dr ,punish theme ,do like usa make un exemple,or you will have 1000 more after , because they will think that ok, leonel punish theme please be a stand up man again.

Christian missionaries alone run or support an estimated 2,000 primary schools attended by some 600,000 students - a third of Haiti's school-aged population, according to government figures. Church groups also run vital hospitals, orphanages and food-distribution sites.
"There are many who come here with religious ideas that belong more in the time of the inquisition," said Max Beauvoir, head of Haiti's Voodoo Priest's Association, which represents thousands of priests and priestesses.
Banistan,
Weren't you abducted and trafficked out of Herr Frankenstein’s Lab in Transylvania?
Cause your to old to be one of Herr Mengele’s missing links!
The United Nations has mobilized an evacuation force for the adopted children of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie after they announced their divorce yesterday.
It is a massive logistical operation that will take many resources to pull off. We appeal to everyone to show some restraint during the rescue mission," UNICEF's Senior Director of Operations, Gonzalez Demerera, told CNN yesterday.
A cargo cult is a type of religious practice that may appear in traditional tribal societies in the wake of interaction with technologically advanced cultures. The cults are focused on obtaining the material wealth (the "cargo") of the advanced culture through magical thinking and religious rituals and practices, believing that the wealth was intended for them by their deities and ancestors...what does this sound like ?........Yes you guessed it
I know and have many good references of Max Beauvoir, the pope of Haitian voo doo, and he is a very profound and intelligent man. Not only that he represents a political-religious force with great social impact in Haiti, that is even recognized "under the table", and on the QT by many local and foreign political leaders, including our own. Do not underestimate or try to discredit a very respected religious figure in Haiti. There are some things that many don't understand about the voo do psyche and followers that are 60% of the Haitian population.
"voo do psyche and followers that are 60% of the Haitian population."
As well as 100% of the METRO supporters!
