San Juan.– Puerto Rican medical doctors who appeared on Facebook posing with guns from Dominican soldiers and Haitian earthquake victims are under investigation for possible ethics violations, the US territory's health secretary said Saturday.

In some of the photographs, smiling physicians appear in medical scrubs, holding guns borrowed from Dominican soldiers. In another, a doctor grins as he holds a saw next to a victim's leg, and a colleague mugs for the camera as he holds up the injured arm of an earthquake victim. Yet others show the doctors holding up condoms, drinking beer, or smiling as they stand beside a coffin.

The five soldiers who allowed the doctors to hold their weapons were arrested pending the investigation's outcome, Dominican Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Rafael Pena Antonio said in a statement.

Ethical guidelines prohibit taking pictures of operations or patients unless they serve an academic or medical purpose, said Health Secretary Lorenzo Gonzalez. "My main concern is the transmission of a picture of a patient not knowing whether there was an attempt for informed consent," said Gonzalez.

More than 60 doctors from Puerto Rico have traveled to the Dominican Republic to treat victims transported there following Haiti's 7.0-magnitude earthquake on Jan. 12 that killed nearly 200,000 people.

Platanos,
You're correct...Jail for the soldiers...Puerto Ricans must face the consequence of this incident, as it may tarnish their professional careers, but this is not our business...The stupid soldiers are.

Hardly anybody is nowdays surprised by exhibitions of moral degeneracy by some members of the US middle class. The US health care operation in Haiti poses ideological problems for some doctors who believe in capitalized medicine where eligibility for medical treatment rests chiefly on past payments to US capitalists organized in health care insurance companies.

Haitian patients have not paid US capitalist premiums that entitle them to get treatment from practitioners of capitalized medicine.

Facebbok pictures show the doctors' malicious and sadistic attitude toward their Haitian patients as well as the moral degenerate status of the doctors. US doctors often display a similar attitude toward US patients.

Possibly More Deaths at Psychiatric Hospital
January 30, 2010
HAVANA TIMES, Jan. 30 – The number of patients in the Havana Psychiatric Hospital who died due to the cold weather in mid January could be as many as 50, affirmed Elizardo Sánchez, president of the opposition’s Cuban Commission of Human Rights and National Reconciliation. Up to now the Cuban authorities have only acknowledged the death of 26 persons, reported IPS.

Malice is pleasure at the sight of the misfortune and pain of others. It is the most rotten of all vices because pleasure is often hard to resist and to intensify the pleasure often entails the intensification of the misfortune or pain.

"In some of the photographs, smiling physicians ... holding guns," the slimy US doctors want to shoot patients.

"A doctor grins as he holds a saw next to a victim's leg," the filthy US doctor relishes the pain that his patient suffers.

"Colleague mugs for the camera as he holds up the injured arm of an earthquake victim," trashy US doctor shows contempt for the patient.

"Yet others show the doctors holding up condoms, drinking beer, or smiling as they stand beside a coffin," the vile US doctors enjoy hinting they have screwed and murdered patients.

Facebook pictures show the kind of repulsive things that happened in Nazi "clinics" for Zionists, commies, and Nazarene liberals.

Some of our DT posters enjoy these things, too.

In that "NARCOESTADO" everything is possible, that's why some 10 rednecks kidnap 50 children from Haiti and try to take them out from DR.

Now they have to find out to who they pay for that? This time they pick up the wrong country or maybe the wrong guys to pay.

In DR is hard to get a minor out the country without documentation.

These stupids rednecks see an good opportunity of making huge money but the shoot came out the but of the gun.

But guess what ? They will be parole and sen back to be free in the streets of USA , there are WHITE PEOPLE, NOR BLACKS OR LATINOS BUT whites. Period.

A statement released by the association noted that "a small minority" of roughly 65 doctors who were sent to treat earthquake victims "displayed behavior ... that did not meet the highest standards of the medical profession." The statement did not say exactly how many doctors appeared in the photos.
"We wish to respectfully ask forgiveness ... for the unfortunate events described and widely disseminated, which we are sure added pain and sadness to the enormous suffering," said the statement, which praised the majority of the doctors for helping quake victims and possibly saving dozens of lives.
The president of the Puerto Rican Senate called for the names of the doctors to be made public, a motion supported by Julissa Nolasco, president of the Health Committee of the House of Representatives.
"I hope they can provide an understandable explanation for such a regrettable act," she said.

“The goal was to rescue orphaned children who needed help,” Drew Ham, a member of the Meridian, Idaho-based church, said in a telephone interview today. A Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti killed more than 150,000
The group was detained because the children lacked necessary adoption papers from the Haitian government, Laura Silsby, the group’s leader, said in an interview with the Associated Press yesterday. Ham said he has not been able to contact Silsby and is in touch with U.S. State Department officials to obtain information about the legal proceedings in the case. He said he doesn’t know if the group has been charged with any crime.
Silsby was planning to build an orphanage in the Dominican Republic to save Haitian children from the hands of human trafficking groups, a plan that pre-dated the earthquake, Ham said.
“This has been a dream of hers for quite some time,” . “Now it looks like her group was arrested for exactly the crime she wants to help combat.”

The AP, largest capitalist press outlet in the world, reported last week that less than 1% of US aid goes to the Haitian "government." By "government," the AP means the Haitian people since the Haitian people were originally declared to be the intended recipients of the aid, not the "goverment."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35103622/ns/world_news-haiti_earthquake/

Many people supposed that if the US imperialists can't help very much, they at least can avoiding hurting the rescue effort. These US doctors in Facebook dispel this supposition.

Perhaps, the Haitians should take these US doctors and treat them the same way the US doctors treat the Hiatians. The Haitians only stand to lose less than 1% of the US aid that actually goes to the people.

If less than 1% of US aid to Haiti goes to the Haitian people, where does more than 99% of US aid go?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35103622/ns/world_news-haiti_earthquake/

Over 99% of US aid to Haiti goes to the US military deployed in or near Haiti.

The aircraft carrier off of Port au Prince cost $2,000,000 per day and it is about to began its third week in or near Haiti. The 13,000 US troops or killers enjoy lavish amenities, satelite TV, internat access, movies, fully supplied mess facilities, laundry and cleaners, pool rooms, free cell phone use, a fully equipped gym, bars and nite clubs, etc. The unloading and deliveries of aid for the Haitian people was delayed while the imperialists unloaded amenities to accommodate US troops.

The DT doesn't say whether the 60 PR doctors are paid by the bourgeois regime in Washington or by the colonial regime in San Juan, PR. Clearly, less than 1% of what the worthless PR doctors cost goes to the Haitians.

Helly I agree with you!

These privileged spoiled little brats from PR are a disgrace first of all to the Puerto Rican people who are amongst the most generous, kind and caring folks I have had the honor to share experiences with. I am sure all Puerto Ricans all over the world are highly saddened and a shamed at the behavior of some of “their best and brightest!”

These “doctors” should loose there licenses or be sent to the most remote village in Africa with the most medical needs for five years to provide free health care as punishment and hopefully redemption.

With regard to the Dominican soldiers, I feel these individuals who are not from the privileged classes and were probably “charmed” to be in the presence of their more affluent and sophisticated Broicua brothers should be disciplined and trained to act more professionally.

"Who posted the pictures on facebook? Whomever posted the pictures on facebook is a moron. Social networking is big brother," mandouafrika opines.

Truth is not moronic. Without truth, nobody believes what's going on, claiming no proof of severe moral degeneracy. When the truth is proved, the fiends apologize and make excuses.

Most likely, what surfaced on Facebook is only the tip of the iceberg because malice is an extreme and tends toward a greater extreme. The malicious persons believe and feel that the pain, suffering, distress, humiliation, and misfortune of others is fun. The greater the distress and humiliation of others, the greater the joy that malice produces within scum.

Other all the vices ... cowardice, uncontrolled lust, violent greed, etc. ... malice is the most evil.

The US doctors, who happen to be from PR, were presumed to be above this kind of conduct. We saw too much of this rotteness in the recent discussion over health care in the USA.

The reason why I said what I said is because people don't post pictures on facebook to reveal misconduct. Most people post things on facebook for attention or show off which is the same thing. I mean think about it... if the person who posted the photos on facebook really wanted to reveal some of the bad behavior on the part of people who are supposed in Haiti to be of service to those affected by the natural catastrophe then would that person have gone straight to a major news outlet?

For everyone who said that this doctors should not recieve any punishment for their actions, how would you like it if a disaster happens where you are at, and a doctor takes those same pictures with one of your family member? I dont think that no one here would take that lightly. You are all some morrons that only think of yourselves. These doctors as the soldiers deserve some type of punishment.

And for the facebook......... facebook is not only for stupid comments about your day or some pictures, is a place where you can have discussions with people that you know. Good for the person who posted those pictures.
