Copiapó, Chile. - After a 48 minute suspension to repair parts of the pod "Fénix 2," the rescue resumed early Wednesday of the 33 miners trapped 700 meters below the surface since August 5 in the mine San José, in northern Chile.
Osmán Araya, 30, was the sixth rescued of 33, who emerged from the depths at 5:35 a.m. (08: 34 GMT), one hour and 24 minutes after Jimmy Sanchez, 19, while Florencio Ávalos was the first to surface.
As of early Wednesday, eight miners have been pulled up from the mine.
