NEW YORK.- The migratory status of millions of foreigners in the United States is reflected directly in the universities, which unlike grade, middle and high schools, demand legal documents so their students can benefit from three government provisions that prevail in the nation.
For years the movement of student formed youngsters and descendants of immigrants, not born in the United States, has for decades waged an all out struggle to reach, as it finally did yesterday, the first foothold in that legal battle, when the House of Representatives approved the Dream Act.
The legislation will not only legalize the tens of thousands of students in higher education institutes nationwide, but will also allow them access to benefits such as full and partial scholarships, state and federal loans, wider and diverse spaces of academic training, among others.
In that context, thousands of students from the Dominican Republic also stand to benefit from that prerogatives, reaching the yearned for dream, after dealing with the obstacles of migratory red tape that kept them from attaining a professional career, closing the doors to the future, and subjecting them to what immigration specialists call an "underworld of shadows."
The movement made calls and posted more than 20,000 text messages daily in Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and others to the congressmen in Washington and various institutions via cell phones to seek their support through the social networks.

Now why should the American taxpayer reward AMNESTY to illegal aliens when they can go back to their country of origin and apply legally for a student visa? Just like LEGAL foreign students have been doing for a hundred years. Not gonna happen!!

for the 2nd. time i'am writing about what is going on in england.
1,000 of students are having hugh protests in the streets today as they did about 2 weeks ago.
they are marching, screeming, yelling, and are very angry about their universitys tuition hikes. in most cases the hikes are from $4,700-$14,000us.
hugh hikes for most students.
austerity cuts, they know their future depends on going to and to finish with a degree from the university.
good start with the yellow tee shirts but i believe we need to take this higher then the yellow shirts if the young really are to get the chance for a formal education. need to push, screem, yell, and???
but get that education at all costs.

3. Bengoa on 4%: "Absurd"
At a time when the debate has intensified and vigils all over the country continue to highlight the demand for 4% of the GDP to be allocated to the education sector, yesterday the government expressed its belief Law 66-97 should be modified. The General Law on Education establishes that 4% of the GDP should be assigned to the educational system, and the modifications would adapt the law to the budgetary realities.
MAYBE THEY SHOULD MODIFIED HIS SUV?

Not going to happen. It is not fair to reward/award children of illegals in this manner above and beyond the legit folks that have and are immigrating to the USA legally.
It would be the same as, allowing the non-dominican born Haitian children a way to enter Dominican Universities & Armed Forces and a pathway to legal Dominican status, just because their parents decided to enter the DR illegally.......
Dream Act is more like a Nightmare Act... bad news for most folks.
