Santo Domingo.- Haiti First Lady Elizabeth Debrosse visited president Leonel Fernandez in the National Palace on Wednesday to discuss the situation her compatriots face the crisis and thanked him for the aid given to her country by the Dominican Government and the people.
The wife of Haiti president Rene Preval was accompanied by Haiti Education Minister Joel Desrosiers Jean Pierre and Haiti ambassador in Santo Domingo, Fritz Cineas.
Also present in the meeting were Education minister Melanio Paredes and First Lady Margarita Cedeño, who in a separate meeting with her Haiti par announced the donation of 15 mobile classrooms to that nation’s stricken educational system, and works with UNICEF to obtain international cooperation to repair 100 schools, of the around 5,000 destroyed by the quake.

The DR schools need help too as the Haitian schools, and any monies we allocate to Haitian school children we are taking away from our own.
Pretending that the DR is a first world power, and giving away what we can not afford to, just puts more stress in our own school kids, that sometimes don't even have a classroom or roof over their heads. A few days ago Dominicans where staring at the sad photo of Dominican school kids taking classes under a tree, without even chairs to sit.
Now a few days later we have so much that we can spare 15 mobile classrooms, and repair another 100 mobile units (original press release did not mention schools) and send to Haiti, while over 100 of our own schools where damaged by the earthquake and in need of repair?
Charity is fine, but we should put our own house in order before our neighbors, and follow the presidential oath of office, to be like a father to all DOMINICANS.

But PD ... it is not "ignorance" that makes some DRs act this way.
For the extreme obsequiousness of some DRs to US imperialism is often palmed-off as super DR chauvinism.
In other words, extreme pro-US imperialist of DR origin wants aid contracts to go US imperialists, not to DR bourgeoisie. So, the pro-imperialist DR tries to drag the DR bourgeoisie out of the market, so imperialists take all by default.

Elizabeth Debrosse seems to be talking "donation" in the area of school construction, not awarding contracts for school construction out of aid money.
To get ahead of competition for the aid money for school construction, DR bourgeoisie should pounce on this opportunity to erect 100 school houses, showing the world what the DR has actually done in Haiti on school houses.

DR bourgeoisie has to show it can do the work of putting up these 100 school houses in record time under the extreme circumstances that now exist in Haiti. [Imperialists, with the Haitian seaports and airports they control, only make excuses.]
THE DR SUPER CHAUVINIST: DR bourgeoisie, don't you dare build those 100 school houses in Haiti. Build some school houses here in the DR. Those Haitians don't deserve any schools anyway.
DR BOURGEOISIE: I took your advice and didn't build 100 schools in Haiti. Now, I watch as stinking US imperialists walk away with $100 million contract to do school construction in Haiti.

They avoid the people except on some rare occasions they will show up at an event just to flaunt their new lines of clothing, their new hair styles, and their expensive jewlry.
A Haitian first lady needs to show some maturity ,some passion, some compassion. They need to leave their comfort zone and redefine their role in this most terribel time in Haitians lives.

Liberality can be reciprocated but it can never be reimbursed. What one does in the spirit of liberality is not done for the sake of reimbursement. What the DR gives away, it should not latter seek rerimbursement.
There will be a billion dollars in contracts handed out for reconstruction in Haiti. These contracts will have nothing to do with reimbursement for past acts of liberality. The contracts will be for performance of future obligations, not reimbursement for past performances.
Back-stabbing DR chauvinists don't want DR bourgeoisie to get its share on these reconstruction contracts, becuase DR chauvinists grovel before US imperialists who badly want a billion dollars in reconstruction contracts.

Rene Preval may have sent LF a message by Elizabeth Debrosse, concerning who and how the billion dollar in reconstruction contracts will be awarded.
From the Haitian point of view, it's best to have as many of the reconstruction contracts as possible awarded to the DR bourgeoisie. (1) Big savings in transportation costs will result from the DR getting the contracts. (2) A lot of the construction work will be done by documented or undocumented Haitians workers residing in the DR. This may mean a boost in remittances from the DR to Haiti. Remittances already constitute over a quarter of the Haitian GDP. (3) The DR bourgeoisie is a lot less corrupt than US bourgeoisie which "overbills" ... that is, cheats ... with extreme intensity.
The message that Elizabeth Debrosse likely brought to LF from her husband is "LF, don't freak out because US imperialists are trying to steal DR's cut of the aid money. LF, hold your peace. We'll see that DR gets its cut. "

The US imperialists are desperately competeing against the DR bourgeoisie and others to get as much of the Haitian aid money for school construction as they can.

world countries is usually owned by those that are close to white, it is not a Haitian phenomenon, and its not by accident. Remember the African despots like Mobutu and Idi Amin Dada slogan Africa is for Africans, what do you think that was about.
We feel sorry for this poor people that have been traumatized, exploited and punked for so many years that we the civilized world have became honorary Haitians now.
i have sent more that $ 200 to help out and I plan on sending more
The whole world is mobilising to help Haiti including artists
A "We are the world" cd will be selling to collect money for Haiti.
Roso ,thanks for helping me compiling the list of the thieves who have dilapidated the Haitian coffers.
As Ray Joseph the apologist for Preval put it rightly so "Haitian people are docile "
What seems to blow me away is not only the greed , the racism of the alien and local parasitic elite but the arrogant , shameless ,and sadistic behavior the have displayed during this tragedy
Haiti will never be the same anymore.

You have done NOTHING for Dominican EDUCATION in violation of the Constitutional mandate and now you are going to help HAITIAN Schools.
LIE-onel Fernandez you have no SHAME!
GOOD COMMENT.
but it has nothing to with SHAME.
its all about this president GOING INTO THE HISTORY BOOKS.
he NEEDS the whole WORLD TO RESPECT HIM.at this POINT i believe HE REALLY does not give MUCH THOUGHTS ABOUT ON HOW THE DOMINICAN PEOPLES.UPPORT HIM OR NOT ITS ALL ABOUT "HIMSELF".
hes the PEACE-MAKER ------ THE MAKER of the MERTO..AND LIST WILL GO ON.
SAD TO SAY THOUGH HES NOT THE MAKER OF THE FUTURE OF THE YOUNG DOMINICANS that REALLY need him NOW IN THEIR LIVES. time is running out .....for all YOUNG DOMINICANS. they only look at a life full of PROBLEMS AND GRIEF.
Better in what way?
Better like Sarah Palin ?
Better as in better looking.
oooo
But PD ... it is not "ignorance" that makes some DRs act this way.
After the imperial slaves stab DR bourgeoisie in the back, they say "See, I'm a super DR patriot."
Leonel Fernandez has also been to Haiti and he had made abundantly clear that the Dominican Republic is going to help Haiti.
He has also made it clear that he will facilitate the distribution of help from other sources.
So the question is :what the heck is Elizabeth Debrosse is doing in the Dominican Republic : posing for a few pictures and showing up her designer clothes?
As a first mother, first wife, first woman she should have been meeting with the thousands of mothers whose children bodies are roting under tons of concrete to console them.
She should have sat with the thousand of wives whose husbands bodies have been dumped in a open field to be eaten by wild animals just to uplift them
She should have embraced the thousands of women who are looking for guidance and inspiration.
Oh no, hell no ! She is avoiding Haitian people like they were lepers or had some kind of highly contagious diseas
I understand,She looks better than Michelle Obama so does Michelle Bennet
you know your stuff .
oooo
Nobody , so far, has said how much of the aid money will be set aside for school construction and which bourgeoisie ... the USA or Canadian or DR or etc ... will do the work, because nobody knows how much aid money will pour in.
Everybody expects a lot of aid money to pour in.
If US imperialists latter take the school construction contract away from DR bourgeoisie, everybody will see what greedy dogs US imperialists are.
Chill it man, go have some Barbancourt Five Star. LOL.
THE DR SUPER CHAUVINIST: The US imperialists paid the DR super patriots $100 each to keep the DR bourgeoisie out of the race for the school construction contract in Haiti. We just did our job.
About 70% of Haiti's trade is with the US imperialists, 9% with DR bourgeoisie, 3% with Canadian bourgeoisie, and the remaining 18% with rest of the world.
The US imperialists believe that the DR's 9% share and the 18% share of the rest of the world are too large.
More than 50% of university students drop out, not because they don't want to study but because they have to work low paying job just to survive. He should be ashamed of himself.
We need new laws, just like the Europeans, only the people born to citizens can be Dominican citizens, we don't have the money to solve their problems. I will have my own topics posted. This is getting out of control and I will start a movement of conscious we need to defend our sovereignty.
Historically, the role of Haitian first lady has always been limited to setting up some bogus philantropic foundation.
They go around the world begging for fund to carry out the works of the foundation and they channel the funds to their bank accounts in Swizerland,
They avoid the people except on some rare occasions they will show up at an event just to flaunt their new lines of clothing, their new hair styles, and their expensive jewlry.
A Haitian first lady needs to show some maturity ,some passion, some compassion. They need to leave their comfort zone and redefine their role in this most terribel time in Haitians lives.
Michelle Obama has shown what the role of a first mother and a first wife should be.
She is on TV daily urging Americans to come to the help of Haitian mothers and wives who will never see their children or their husbands again

"So, don't compete for contracts against USA."
Josean ,agree 100% ..you are like a fungus!
oooo
Pepe32, the apparent DR chauvinist, doesn't want the DR bourgeoisie to get hundreds of millions of dollars in school construction contracts out of the Haitian aid money, not because the apparent DR chauvinist believes LF "have done NOTHING for Dominican EDUCATION," but because the these apparent DR chauvinists elevate the interests of the US imperialists above those of the DR bourgeoisie in the international competitiion for the school construction money in Haiti. The US imperialists are desperately competeing against the DR bourgeoisie and others to get as much of the Haitian aid money for school construction as they can.
It is not about "Dominican education," but it is about business and about competition among cappies for profit. It is only incidental that the contracts are in the field of ecucation.
But if the DR bourgeoisie does NOT compete ... as these apparently DR chauvinists adamantly demand ... the DR bourgeoisie will surely not win the lion share or any share of the Haitian aid money set aside for school construction.
The US imperialists will walk off with the Haitian aid money as they are plotting to do.
The victory of the US imperialists over the DR bourgeoisie will ... once again... thrill the apparent DR chauvinists, some irrelevantly arguing that Haiti doesn't deserve to have schools and others irrelevantly arguing that DR deserves schools more than Haiti.
This is about the allocation of Haitian aid money.
Do you dig?
"The Obama administration is quietly advocating a plan to reconstruct Haiti that could involve a central role for former President Bill Clinton. The plan, designed by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's staff and presented to top Haitian officials in recent days, calls for the creation of an Interim Haiti Recovery Commission to oversee the ``urgent early recovery'' over the next 18 months,"
See : U.S. paving way to rebuild Haiti
http://www.miamiherald.com/1630/story/1473824.html
According to the Miami Herald "The commission's top priority: create a Haitian Development Authority to plan and coordinate billions in foreign assistance for at least 10 years. "
Haitian Government and DR bourgeoisie want the DR bourgeoisie to get a good chunk of the reconstruction contracts and money.
US imperialists and apparent DR chauvinists don't want the DR bourgeoisie to get a dime.
