LEADERS CREATE LATAM, CARIBBEAN GROUP

Playa del Carmen, Mexico. - Dominican Republic president Leonel Fernandez will head the “Group of Friends of Venezuela and Colombia” to mediate in the ongoing dispute between those two nations, which flared up again in the Summit of Unity, concluded today in the country’s Yucatan peninsula.

It’s the third time the leader of the Caribbean nation is called to help settle tiffs between Uribe and Chavez, the second time in 1998 and included Ecuador’s Rafael Correa.

The host, Mexico chief executive Felipe Calderón told the press that Fernandez will head the group of countries to help solve the differences between Colombia and Venezuela, whose presidents Alvaro Uribe and Hugo Chavez again traded jabs in a luncheon Monday.

Uribe’s comparison of the way trade Caracas treats Colombian companies with the U.S. blockade on Cuba prompted Chávez to threaten with abandoning the event, to which the Colombian leader retorted: "Be a man and stay and we’ll speak here face to face, because you sometimes insult from a distance."

Latin America, Caribbean bloc

Also approved in the Summit by the leaders was the formation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, “as our proper regional space which joins all states."

Calderón said the new organism will assume the “patrimony" of the Rio Group and of the Latin America and Caribbean Summit (CALC).

If he is so good at mediating, why is he being asked to do it for the THIRD time. Obviously, the other two times had little or no effect.

I wish we had a mediator between "El pueblo Dominicano y Leonel Fernandez". Is only right to ask for this long overdue feud between us.

here is my list of 5 thing we shall have had a long time ago.

Where do I start.....

Lopez31,
True and LF always in the mix. 1 MASTER buffoon and 1 follower.

Gringo_1,
LF careful...Yes!
LF needs the US, time will tell.

Juanb,
LF looking for office space beyond the DR ?
The 3rd time is a charm ?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT....

Hugo-a-go-go playing puppet master again !
On one hand he wants the world to view him as a reasonable LEADER !
Up to his old tricks again ?
Only fools trust him.
Meanwhile Hugo-a-go-go is building a massive well armed [new AK-mod. 103 purchase] & trained army [Sputnik advisers ] which will cause a military destabilization in the region with FARC build-up.

WORD TO THE WISE.........CAUTION !

LF is playing with fire. Rule of thumb.......Venezuela should first send diplomats to pave the way for an agreement.

Nothing like showing the RIGHT hand in plain sight, in order to hind what the LEFT hand is really doing.

ALVERO URIBE and COLUMBIA BEWARE ! ......YOUR ENEMY'S ARE CLOSER THEN YOU THINK.....

"If he is so good at mediating, why is he being asked to do it for the THIRD time. Obviously, the other two times had little or no effect," Juanb poses an excellen question ... for a change.

oooo

The dispute between Colombian reactionaries and Venezuelan revollutionaries is not "mediatable." This is class struggle that cannot be reconciled ... or removed. The class struggle can only be moderated ... or decresed in intensity ... for a while. A lull is a different thing from elimination of antagonism.

Other regional leaders proved unable even to moderate this dispute, not to mention reconcile it. LF leaps at every opportunity to moderate because the role of moderator implies LF is "the man" among regional leaders.

Hugo is trying to isolate reactonary Colombian bourgeoisie in the region. He has made great strides ... ALBA, UNASUR, and now a new RIO GROUP. These groups are mostly anti-imperialist, not pro-imperialist like Colombian bourgeoisie.

FARC continues to grow.

I say solve the problems the gentleman's way, in a world wide TV winner take-all mud wrestling contest.
LF is being called to referee and is getting sprayed with mud by these two, with nothing to gain, except Nutty Hugo's backing out of a done deal with the DR refinery.

''Look, England, how long are you going to be in the Malvinas? Queen of England, I'm talking to you,'' Mr Chavez said. ''The time for empires is over, haven't you noticed? Return the Malvinas to the Argentine people.''
Still addressing the Queen, he went on: ''We are no longer in 1982. If conflict breaks out, be sure Argentina will not be alone like it was back then.''
Britain and Argentina have long disputed sovereignty of the Falklands - known as las Malvinas in Latin America - and fought a war over them in 1982.
The issue had been relatively calm until a British oil exploration company recently announced drilling plans there.

LF knows tactics and understands class struggle.

He sweet talks the OAS-UN, ALBA, UNASUR, CARICOM, and RIO GROUP and tries to straigthen out beefs within and among them.

"Let's sit down and talk," sly LF says.

The mass of the Colombian bourgeoisie doesn't want to be isolated from or within these bodies. LF jumps up and postpones the regional isolation of the Colombian and US reactionaries. LF is the only one of the regional leaders who knows how and wants to postpone the isolation of the reactionaries whom the peoples flush down the toilet where they belong.

"Uribe, shut up or I'll let them isolate you."

ALBA likes LF because he exports food. Slick LF manuevers to replace US as 1st or replace Colombia as Venezuela's 2nd largest agricultural exporter. But more aggressive Brazil and Argentina are also competing for the Venezuelan market share the stupid Colombian bourgeoisie has already lost.

LF follows the money or markets, not Hillary, like rich Colombians.

Bienamor,
I believe, It goes like this..........while LF is playing the world leader / negotiator role, meanwhile the true puppet master who is calling the shots and pulling the strings waits patiently for the right moment in time. One has to ask how is the DR benefiting from all this, really ?

I'll repeat......

"Nothing like showing the right hand, in order to hide what the left hand is really doing"

Could he be following the same foot steps of the great leader of "El Norte" trying to please every one all the time while ignoring the real problems at home ?

GOD ! I hope I'm wrong.

Take care my friend.

Uribe tried to enlist LF in a conspiracy to break the militant spirit of the Summit in Cancun.

At the airport in Cancun, Hugo Chávez said LF warned Chavez and others about Uribe's intentions to make an off-topic speech in an arrogant and provocative tone at a luncheon meeting on Haitian aid.

Then, LF went public and asked Uribe not to make trouble at the Summit. But Uribe, under orders from US imperialists, did not accept LF's advice.

At the luncheon on Haitian aid, Uribe insolently accused Venezuela of misconduct in international trade with Colombia.

LF himself proposed to the Summit the creation of a "group of friends" (Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Mexico) to help Venezuela and Colombia moderate their differences.

LF was very slick to pick nothing but big-named countries with large economies to serve on his "group of friends" -- two are pro-Uribe, two are pro-Chavez and the DR sits in the middle with the tie-breaker.

LF is slick.

I believe LF should be very careful when dealing with the puppet master.

The DR is currently in bad need of a Prez. with his interest, devotion, dedication, honor, courage etc..etc.. to the People who voted him in office in the first place ?

What ever happened to sending a top Dominican Foreign Diplomat instead, to do the foreign Diplomatic DANCE THING ?
