Tegucigalpa.– The Honduras Justice Ministry requested the arrest of ex president Manuel Zelaya, two of his former ministers and two other former Government officials, on charges of fraud, document forgery and abuse of power.
The ex Honduras leader is currently in exile in Santo Domingo. The Office of the Prosecutor Against Corruption presented the request before Tegucigalpa’s Penal Court, and asked the court to issue an arrest warrant for Zelaya and the other four if necessary.
The Office of the Prosecutor says around 30 million lempiras (almost us$1.6 million dollars) were diverted from the Honduran Social Investment Fund (FHIS) for advertising expenses by the Presidential House, authorized by executive decree issued months after it was spend.
