SANTO DOMINGO. - A group of 26 Haiti organizations and social movements have become the first groups to openly denounce the planned formula for its reconstruction, at the center of the conference of donors concluded in Santo Domingo yesterday.
Speaking on Thursday for the organizations, Colette Lespinasse said the plan excludes Haiti’s social players. and "that’s reason that the impulse for Haiti’s development can’t be conceived and instead restores a model which has been the cause for the more than one million displaced in the country."
She said Haiti needs a complete makeover of its model of development, one which breaks with the social exclusion, economic dependency, an excessive centralization of power and in public services, and which implements a process to reorganize the physical space and rural areas.
The social movements Lespinasse represents called on the Haitians to stage a rally in that nation in April to deal with the challenges and define the strategies for the alternative reconstruction of a new country.
She said they’ll meet tomorrow with Haiti Prime Minister Jean Max Bellerive, to present him with their proposals and with whom they’ve already began a process of dialogue.
Lespinasse criticized that despite their ongoing process of dialogue with Haiti’s government, they’ve yet to be included in the table of the donor countries.

A lot of talk about concrete and rebar, but no talk about Haiti social misfortune and environmental catastrophes.
If the haitian government doesn't includes local social organizations to try solving haiti's most glaring social issues they will fail once again.
In my opinion they need to reform the political landscape to prevent any political party or faction to bring the country down, the justice system should be reform as well, also money should be allocated to help stablish a police and army to protect their territory and environment.
All i see is people lining up to cash in and get paid, with big infrastructure projects and schematics, but without a freaking clue on how to solve haiti most difficult issues.

Their denunciation is justified because this "planned formula" is a US imperialist formula imposed on a goveling and venal Haitian bourgeoisie for the sole purpose of enriching the US bourgeoisie.
This US imperialist "planned formula" doesn't benefit the Haitian working class and it also doesn't benefit the DR bourgeoisie as much as it could or should.
The "planned formula" says the US bourgeoisie may steal, if it wants to, somewhere between 80% to 90% of the $2.2B of UN Haitian relief and recovery funds already in the bank in the USA.
The US bourgeoisie "wants to."

with the hundreds of millions of dollars pledged by the international community to rebuild haiti, would be a waste of money unless accompanied by massive RE-FORESTATION of the country.
deforestation CAUSES DEVASTATING FLOODS. when it storms in haiti's mountains, the water flows down into nearby villages with nothing to ABSORB IT, or STOP IT. thousands will die.
DEFORESTATION has long been one of the main reasons behind haiti's chronic poverty.

Etiennc01,
I believe you put your dark finger on the truth when you say "they not can entertain positive emotions like love."
Let's say "positive emotion" is pleasure. These kinds of perverts get no pleasure from love.
They are malicious; so, their only source of pleasure is the pain or misfortune of others whether this pain or misfortune is deserved or undeserved.
I'm not saying being dark is pain or misfortune. But some dark people and light people in bourgeois societies ... US, DR, Haiti ... are brainwashed into believing being dark is pain or misfortune.

This is something that should be in everyone's best interest, including Haitians, donors and Dominicans-especially!
A strong and prosperous Haiti is the best solution to our immigration problem, and overall prosperity of Hispaniola, with material commerce expansion from present levels, thereby fostering necessary growth for our two distinct nations. I just hope they get it right this time.

What can Haitians expect from the US imperialist administration of the $2.2B UN trust fund?
The same priorities in the relief period will recur in the reconstruction period.
"Each American dollar roughly breaks down like this: 42 cents for disaster assistance, 33 cents for U.S. military aid, nine cents for food, nine cents to transport the food, five cents for paying Haitian survivors for recovery efforts, just under one cent to the Haitian government, and about half a cent to the Dominican Republic," the AP reported Jan.27.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35103622/Only 9 cents out of every $ will go for food.
Only 5 cents out of every $ for Haitian workers.
Only 1 cent out of every $ for Haitian Govt.
Whopping 33 cents out of every $ for the US military.
42 cents out of every $ for "disaster assistance"
For most part, "disaster assistance" is another term for the US military.
33 cents and 42 cents means 75% of US aid for "Haiti" goes to the USA.

For once I agreed with both of you guys. Haiti must be rebuilt as a whole, not just the physical aspect of the Republic of Port -au- Prince. The social and economic structure of the country have to changed, the needs of every member of Haitian society have to be address. Francois Duvalier had centralized everything in P-au-P in order to prevent the rise of any rival in the provinces,he even shut down some of the ports that were very lucrative(all in the fear of rebel invasions) looking back that was a major mistake(it killed the development of the country) Decentralization is a must in every way.I believed those who died during the quake did not die in vain, they lost their lives so a new Haiti can rise from the ashes. Its not easy and a lot of people speaking negativity in the comments wouldn't have enough "gacho" to walk a day in their shoes. But they have to live and survive. Their dignity is unceasing. Even the poorest understand that. (And its so funny because even the rich have a poor a concept of what dignity is and what they do have of it is smaller than a mustard seed). While some of the rest of the world's haters feel they should just commit mass suicide, those that are poor still understand the gift of life.

I cna't help but think of the monumental amount of skimming that would follow release of funds, and how very little would trickle down to those who need money the most.
I really wish that either a Swiss or Brittish firm would be in charge and keep money away from all "ladrones", be they Haitian or Dominican-couldn't care less, because except for nationality they are full-fledged ladronasos, nevertheless.
The world has "Haiti Fatigue" and would not likely come to Haiti's aid next time, so, if they screw this chance up, then they'll likely be on their own next time-no matter what LF might say!
I would rather see a de-centralized pocket of villages approach, similar to Europe, consisting of 3-story buildings. Land must be secured by emminent domain if necessary and promptly. And, perhaps, P-A-P should be forsaken altogether, as cost of reconstruction would be prohibitive.
Anyway, I feel for the Haitian Nation, and only wish them the best.

Well said,Glomar!
DON'T BE SURPRISE!

The US bourgeoisie "wants to."

deforestation CAUSES DEVASTATING FLOODS. when it storms in haiti's mountains, the water flows down into nearby villages with nothing to ABSORB IT, or STOP IT. thousands will die.
DEFORESTATION has long been one of the main reasons behind haiti's chronic poverty.
haiti's TREES where used as firewood or CHARCOAL for cooking. this has left the ground useless for AGRICULTURE

You guys may be right about the timing being right for a new structure in haiti. Call me old fashion, but if my house gets blown away by a earthquake and my family is out on the streets and strangers come to to my aid and start building me a new house, I would feel awkward telling them how to build it. I WOULD JUST WANT A ROOF OVER MY FAMILY'S HEAD
SO WOULD I..... THANK U FOR YOUR INTELLIGENT THOUGHTS.
They're so smart and educated, your country needs you:
etiennc01 have a mud cookie on me,
dreads you must be a moaning gay bitch, haitian like you, we slap in the face and then put a bean in your head, come down here we treat you well, I'll make you my biatch, bitch.
IN CASE U HAVE NEVER LOOK AT A MAP OF THE DR.
U SHARE THE SAME ISLAND WITH THEM.
WHERE DO U WANT THEM TO GO?..
be easy with your answer boys and girls.
their is a fellow upstairs that is WATCHING ALL.
so why not be kind about this whole affair this DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKE they had over there.
close your t.v. u can WATCH CARTOONS later tonight and go PLANT ONE TREE IN HAITI.
Why plant the tree when it will be chopped down for carbon???
but i would feel good inside just to try.
if the haitian's keep on chopping then its their fault and their problem.
not bad...., problem is they leave out of fll. im in the keys long ride to the aiport. and they get into sti at 2am if all goes well rt. trip is at 3am get back to fll at 5am.
but i did save some money
need to pay my elec. bill even though its out for many hours each week the bill goes higher each few months., and i need the savings so i can drive my suv into one station in sti try and buy some gas for it.... even though i ask for dos mill pesos {i know im not getting all i pay for}
but part of the game i guess.
hope i have enough money left to go to price smart and national for some food.
Haitians should let the people with stable society dictate how the money will be spent, otherwise if those haitian elites get their hands on the money, forget it, Haiti will be eating mud cookie in 2200
oooo
Perhaps, I got a little carried away and overstepped the bounds of civility.
What I meant to say was these pro-imperialist dogs of Haitian, DR and USA origin bark like savage and rabid beasts at the Haitian working class or, in other words, at the Haitian people. But these flea-infested and mangy muts of various origin fall on their backs to expose their soft underbellies to their US imperialist masters.
To one class ... the Haitian people, this animal shows its teeth; but to another class, it shows only its mangy underbelly.
This animal is a coward in both cases.
All one has to do is to spit on or at this filthy thing and it flees.
Is there any chance for a recovery?
What is the correlation ?
Why is this pervert urge to harm women ,children and darker skin people.?
Is it because they not can entertain positive emotions like love, compassion ?
The enquiring mind wants to know
oooo
Etiennc01,
I believe you put your dark finger on the truth when you say "they not can entertain positive emotions like love."

GC,
My friends in Havana and Caracas are not masters. They are comrades or, better still, friends.
GC, when you, above, said "oink oink" ... what exactly do you mean?
Is it that you're hungry?
Or that you want a bath?
Or that you don't have enough mud to wallow in?

memory , history and hysteria
When you choose to recall events and actors that make you feel good or give you an excuse to hate one group, this is memory
History is obejective and revisits all the events and the actors to redress memory.
hysteria is when a person hates a group because of his limitations , ignorance, and shortcomings
I have read what your memory remembers and how your hysterai has clouded your best judment ,now read these hystorical facts
They are not in your history book and you know why !
Slave rebellion on both sides of the island to the 1863 War of Restauration waged by black Dominicans against Spanish colonialism which defeated the Spanish Empire , due in part to the miltary aid of Haiti
Simultaneosly struggles by paysant guerillas forces against the US occupying forces in Haiti 1915 1934 and the Dominican republic 1916 -1934
In the 1930's, Haitians came to the rescue of Domincans when the hurricahe San Zenon devasted Santo Domingo city
Juan Bosh to power many haitians joined the caused and died in fighting against the american forces and the subsequent American invasion.
in fact , one of the martyrs is the Haitian- born intellectual Jacques Viau

Don't Be Silent proves Neanderthals speak.
Scientists once believed speech rose after Neanderthals disappeared. But Don't Be Silent is evidence to contrary.
Don't Be "enriches" speech with Neanderthalisms like "Your hair is not yellow" or, more characteristically, "Why are you alive?" or, above all, "Where are the dinosaurs?"
Haitians must definitely play strong and prominent part in deciding their future and type of society they wish to have-to be proud, independent and prosperous.

Allow me to throw this in the pot.
Semper Fidelis...........
The same priorities in the relief period will recur in the reconstruction period.
"Each American dollar roughly breaks down like this: 42 cents for disaster assistance, 33 cents for U.S. military aid, nine cents for food, nine cents to transport the food, five cents for paying Haitian survivors for recovery efforts, just under one cent to the Haitian government, and about half a cent to the Dominican Republic," the AP reported Jan.27.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35103622/
Only 9 cents out of every $ will go for food.
33 cents and 42 cents means 75% of US aid for "Haiti" goes to the USA.
gracias for your addendum
we hope that we may be able to vaccinate some against the viruses of historical misinformations that have caused their schizophrenia ( confusion , fear) resulting in their odd behavior toward Haitians and their significant lost with reality(world history,Lionel Fernandez, Barak, Michelle Obama, global economy, tourism, internet, cellular phone, satellite dishes ect)
However, our historical corrections will not do anything to save the hysterical souls like jrrabiadolorosa inhabited by the agitated demons of the past that ordered or participated in the slaughtering of thousands of Haitians in the River Massacre.
The truth will set you free.

In DR we have areas like Santiago that produce a lot more money for the nation than is invested in the area ,everything has to go to Santo Domingo where they decide who gets funding or not !
People who own these crazy stores sure get rich. Some mark ups are 200%.

The international community is about to spend a lot of cash on this effort ,they must get it right.
