SANTO DOMINGO.- President Leonel Fernandez traveled today to Guatemala City, where he’ll participate in the meeting of Central America and Dominican Republic leaders with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The Presidency’s Web said the Head of State’s departure from the Las Americas International Airport aboard a private flight was slated for 8:30 a.m.
The presidents of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama will also participate in the meeting with the American official, slated for 11:35 a.m. local time in Guatemala’s National Palace.
After the meeting Fernandez will fly to Colombia to mediate in that nation’s conflict with Venezuela, and will return via the San Isidro Airbase at an unspecified hour on Sunday.

Today's (3/ 5) early-morning rainfall in Port-au-Prince exposed vulnerabilities of thousands of people, sheltered by weak frames made of cloth and sheets..

MORE ON THE OPENING IN PUERTO PLATA THEY HAVE30 foot tall screens coming for our new Gua-Gua 3D simulation. The idea is to simulate the experience of being a passenger in the local minibuses that travel around the Dominican cities. We’ll squash 40 people, some chickens and a donkey into a 10 foot by 6 foot room and try to create the Gua-Gua experience. There will only be 6 seats, so people will have to stand or sit on each other. There’ll be no air-con, and we’ve got a great merengue soundtrack to liven things up. The big screens will show motorcycles coming at you from all directions, loud horns blaring, trucks and SUV’s narrowly missing you and people crossing your path pretending you aren’t there. We still have some work to do on this one, as in early tests people were so frazzled by the experience they couldn’t last the whole simulation.”

The bourgeois media try to make Hillary the star of the meeting. But the reality is Hillary is only the co-star besides LF. That's how big LF grew last year, often at Hillary's expense.
The fun is in guessing what items are most likely on the agenda and what are the likely outcomes of the discussion on these items.

The most money is in the trade and Haiti items.
Most of Central America- DR sub-region has surrendered its sovereignty to US imperialists on trade. So, there is very little that needs discussion since US imperialist unilaterally set trade policies in the sub-region.
Most of the other money is in the Haitian item on the agenda. The Haitian Government won't be there. This means Hillary and LF will go toe to toe over the Haitian money. LF most likely can expect back-up from Dean Barrow of Belize, Ortega of Nicaragua, and Funes of El Salvador, especially if the DR foreign ministry did its advance work.

The most money is in the trade and Haiti items.
Most of Central America- DR sub-region has surrendered its sovereignty to US imperialists on trade. So, there is very little that needs discussion since US imperialist unilaterally set trade policies in the sub-region.
Most of the other money is in the Haitian item on the agenda. The Haitian Government won't be there. This means Hillary and LF will go toe to toe over the Haitian money. LF most likely can expect back-up from Dean Barrow of Belize, Ortega of Nicaragua, and Funes of El Salvador, especially if the DR foreign ministry did its advance work.

US imperialists give a lot attention to standing places at the meeting's final photo opportunity.
If LF is at the end of the line ... on either side of Hillary ... that suggests he and she didn't get along too well at the meeting.
The AP always has the final photo in its coverage of these things.

The world proletarian media and even the bourgeois media outside of the USA have been saying these things and a lot more for weeks, almost "like a broken record." But the bourgeois media in the USA persisted in its lies about the problems of aid distribution under the control of US imperialists and pro-imperialist NGOs (the swine).
Let's hope LF reads this AP article before he faces Hillary and her team of fiends in Guatemala.

In the DR, there is a struggle between the "patriotic" sector of DR bourgeoisie and the pro-imperialist swine. The mass of the DR bourgeoisie want s a good chunk of the $2.2B Haitian reconstruction contracts. My estimate is the amount of money up for grabs is about $3.2B, not $2.2B.
The pro- US imperialist swine of DR origin (the compradors) don't want DR bourgeoisie to get a dime of $2.2B and demand LF concentrate on "reconstruction" of the DR.
LF seems to believe reconstruction of Haiti and "reconstruction" of DR are best served by getting a good chunk of that $2.2 billion.
Nobody is going to throw $2.2B at LF. He has to go get it.
