NEW YORK.- In their first interview together since their son Carlos Amonte’s arrest by federal agents in Kennedy Airport on terrorism charges, his parents say his alleged accomplice the Pakistani Mohamed Alessa deceived their son and defended his quiet nature.
Interviewed on local television yesterday Pedro and Sabrina Almonte affirm their son’s arrest and incarceration has devastated the entire family.
They said they were bothered every time Alessa went to their house in Elmwood, New Jersey to show their son videos of the war in Iraq and incite him.
They also complained of what they call the mockery of Americans against the two suspects.
“As a mother I never thought that my son could fall into that, because that wasn’t the education we gave him,” Mrs. Almonte said and described the alleged terrorist as a “sensible, noble, good, peaceful and intelligent boy.”
“The only thing I know is that my son never bad did things and if he did them, he was after getting together with that other boy, but he is not like that,” Mr. Almonte said.
“Perhaps from the bad influence of that friend, who is hyper, rebellious, and put him in that serious problem, because my son always swore to me that he had joined that religion (Islam), to do good.”

2. If the parents objected to their son's friend, why allow him into their house?
3. Poor parenting is most likely the cause of his (son's) lack of will and convictions.
4. Do these folks have other children? If so, the FEDs need to keep an eye on them as well. They are sheep, not leaders.
5. Why do most all parents not accept responsiblility for their adlut children living in their home and defend their poor judgements? They almost always blame others for their children's misdeeds and FUs.

it seems that from your post that youhad never had raised a child to maturity. a parent tries hard to raise their child to be a good and resposible person. however, raising a child can semm like a game of chance and anything can happen to influence your child to take the wrong path. on the subject of religion, we should tread easily on that matter. individuals that convert to a more demanding religion do so out of deep convictions. religion here in the west is constantly being diluted and compromised.
