New York.– A Dominican national has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for entering the United States illegally for a third time.

According to press reports, Jose Mercedes-Leon was twice deported after being convicted on felony drug charges, but re-entered the country illegally both times. He was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Providence, and will face a deportion hearing after finishing his prison term.

The 30-year-old man was most recently arrested in Woonsocket in December 2008 on a felony assault charge.

"...sentenced to two years in federal prison for entering the United States illegally for a third time. " There's no need for the incarceration and deportation. This is a trend, and the felon is going to continue to enter illegally. There's a fourth try in the making. Stay tuned!

SALSOUL,
Notice no time served for his prior felony drug conviction, maybe after serving the 2 years in the federal penn and his deportation back to the DR and on his 4th try they'll add the 2008 felony assult charge.
