Jakarta.– Two people were killed and more than 30,000 were displaced when a long-dormant volcano in Indonesia erupted again on Monday, CNN reported.
Airlines were warned to avoid remote Mount Sinabung in northern Sumatra as it erupted for a second day after springing to life for the first time in four centuries.
Relief workers provide shelter and medical aid to the villagers who have been affected by the eruptions.
Locals have been urged to wear face masks to protect against the volcanic ash. Priyadi Kardono, a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency, said "The government has distributed 7,000 masks to refugees and set up public kitchens."
