The slain former leader, with Dominican Republic president Leonel Fernandez.
The military arm of the Lybia National Transitional Council says toppled leader Muammar Gaddafi died of wounds following capture near his hometown of Sirte, Al Jazeera reports.
Images of a severely wounded Gaddafi have surfaced in the northern coastal city of Sirte, but as yet unconfirmed.
Recent heavy fighting in that city had drawn the attention of NATO, which stage airstrikes on suspedted targets, incliuding military vehicles. The reports note that Gaddafi was in one of two vehicles attacked during an airstrike.

The bad side of this thing is "WHAT" will replace him. How long do you think the puppet governement of Iraq would last without NATO? They can barely prevent muslims with different views from killing eachother. Same applies here.... At least we knew how "coucou cachew" Gaddafi and Hussain were and there were still some controls from afar.. After Hussain's regime fell, and the celabration ended (goat milk ran out), all hell broke loose in Iraq. Same happened in Yugoslavia, Ukraine, Rome after Ceasar, and same is happening in Egypt, Sudan, and soon Lybia.

This is what happens when you dont play ball with the usa. Saddam with his non existing weapons of mass destruction, Gaddafi since the Prez Reagan years for Libya's oil and support of the PLO and desire to unite all Arab nations. Weather it be usa muscle in NATO, UN or military sponsorship you will be going down!!
Now they will put in a us approved puppet leader like they did in Afganistan (bush's pick), Iraq, dont forget Musharraf. Who will be put in there now?
Gaddafi wasnt smart enough just to step down when the protests turned into outright civil war. No way hes going to win usa/nato backed rebels. his time was up.
He should have been caught and imprisoned and tried for his crimes...perhaps this will show all leaders they are responsible for what they do....killed in battle or bombings doesnt show he's guilty or innocent.

Regarding to teh NEWs coverage, WHY Al Jazeera can not be trusted??? i would really like to read a REASONABLE answer just because they are not From US and their highly BIASED news??? that is the problem with some people that actually see ONE side of the story and take that as gosspel...if Al Jazeera is moved by Iranian Interests (actually they are from QATAR and they have offices on WASHINGTON DC, so there goes the Iranian thing) it is the FAIR to say that Fox News & Company are founded and aimed to American Interests some of them even worst than Qaddafy itself...THAT is being FAIR.

That can be demostrated easily, just READ the petrocaribe agreement...If the clowns on DR power stole the money or don't take full advantage of those agreements is our problem...if the venezuelans dislike chavez they should vote him out! But that is none of our business, By the way, according to last study i saw he had close to 55% approval, so majority of the people he actually rules for don't care all the bad things that american media and fox news propaganda shows.
