Major drug routes to the U.S.
Santo Domingo. - Three European powers with interests in the Caribbean have joined the United States to impose a sort of naval blockade or “maritime wall” and with Dominican Republic’s cooperation, use cutting edge technology and forces to confront the region’s heightened drug trafficking operations by major South American cartels.
The criminal groups are migrating towards the so-called “Caribbean corridor” in the wake of Mexico’s military attacks against its cartels and the war unleashed within rival groups for the region’s territorial control.
In Colombia meanwhile its cartels have confronted obstacles in using the “Pacific corridor,” stemming from the military strikes against its guerrilla and paramilitary groups which controlled the area’s jungles and provided protection to cocaine producers and exporters.
The situation prompted a joint thrust by the United States, France, Holland and England in the Caribbean, affording Dominican Republic a key participation given its strategic geographic position and the government’s cooperation against drug trafficking, in addition to being the underworld’s choice as one of the larger territories selected as an alternative routes to transport drugs to major markets.
Drugs czar travels to the US
Rolando Rosado, head of the country’s antinarcotics agency (DNCD) yesterday flew to the United States to coordinate the strategy with his par from other countries, and will include the use of spy satellites, modern radars, naval patrol planes and land units.
Units from Dominican Republic’s three military branches, in addition to the DNCD, form part of the operation.
“The idea is to impose a sort of maritime wall, because we’re anticipating that the use of the ‘Caribbean corridor' for drug trafficking activities will balloon in the next few months, because many of the major cartels’ top figures seek to avert Mexico’s violence and their protection which the guerrillas and the paramilitary had provided them in Colombian territory has already been reduced to a minimum,” said one the foreign agents in the operation who asked that his name not be used, quoted by news source eldia.com.do.

What about planning to reduce the consumption...The number of US school kids using drugs is alarming!
At this point I don't believe in any of this...Knowing that drugs is one of the top commodities, maybe the big shots from Washington/EU just want to make sure that key routes to the north are protected. It's all smokes & mirrors at very high level.
From: Dominican Republic, I dislike all politicians and their afiliated parties... "I simply say it AS IT IS!!"
What ppl reading this article don't know is kids as young as 9 years old are already doing drugs in the U.S.A. The funny thing no one can say or do anything since it would be a violation to their civil and liberal rights.

If they have to fly it to North Korea and back, they will.
There is no stopping corruption, vice nor greed.
No maritime wall will do.

Walls are for two reasons...to keep people in...and to keep people out. Hopefully this "wall" is not to "hide an increased flow of drugs through the country.

As long as the corrupt Dominican government is not involved it might work. All items passing into and out of the country should be thoroughly searched by outside countries to prevent drugs from getting out and money from getting back in. This is the only way it will work.

Hellborn25,
Who pushed more dangerous drugs during the 1960's ?
Who forced those to use and abuse drugs ?
Who forced those to sell drugs ?
Who pushed the "fade out, tune in" anti-social mentality during the 60's that still haunts America today ?
What ever happened to taking personal responsibility ?
One can point fingers but remember for every finger pointed there's 3 pointed right back.
What ever happened to....Life is full of decisions, the decisions one makes in early life can have an effect in a positive or negative way ?
Marajuana has been around for thousands of years and is found all over the world.
Fight the drug problem and addition by.....never using it, don't associate with user's and teach your children of the dangers.
The best way to stop this madness is through responsible parenting and education.

riosm I have to disagree with you , personal responsibily should not be a option in the first place , when it is being shove down your throut by your own goverment , lets not kid ourselves the unites states does greelight the drug traffick of colombia , and if they really was a war on drugs we would be burning all those coca fields in colombia , with the cooperation of the colombian government . I am not naive enough to actually believe that a after school public service announcement is the answer to the war on drugs? . Remember just say no slogan , did that work ?
From: United States, words of wisdom from the nutcracker
riosm if you actually believe what happen in the 60s with the vietnam war and hippies fiasco , has the sole reason of why things are the way they are , then you really need to look back in and studied your history again . cause and effect was not the reason for all these illegal drugs now in our streets . our presidents and our government had vital role in all of that . Along with our pals the rockerfellars

Yep ! Your right it's always some one else's fault.....the GOV. another excuse to sift blame for not taking personal responsibility, freedom of choice.
During the 60's the sub-cultural, music, free love and liberal goons of the day pushed the idea that doing drugs was the in thing to do mixed in with the anti-war movement.
Woodstock was an example of.....
I like many others have taken personal responsibility BY NOT USING, using drugs
is not TABOO any more.
As long as there's drug abuse and an apatite for drugs the problem will remain the same and only get worst.
Imagine the value of a kilo of pure cocaine in Peru vs. the value of that same kilo in the U.S $$$.
The problem being Man will always look for an alternative mind experience to his seemly bored existence.

No wall and no bullets will stop the drug as long as the consumers in the northern countries crave for it. Stop the consume there and you'll stop the flow.
