JUAN, Puerto Rico.- Following the recent tragedy
in which a “yola” sank off the beach of Matancitas, in Nagua in the north east
Dominican Republic in early December, the US Customs and Border Protection
(CBP) has issued a warning aimed at dissuading people from crossing to Mona
Passage to Puerto Rico illegally.
As part of
the “Don’t be Fooled” campaign under way since February 2011 across the US,
Mexico and Central America, CBP points out that many of these migratory trips
involve human trafficking. This practice is considered a modern version
of slavery, with sexual exploitation and forced labor as the main objective of the criminal organizations that engage in it.
The
main objective of the campaign is to make potential immigrants aware of the
risks of human trafficking, helping prevent them from becoming victims.
Under US migration law, it is a crime to enter or to try to enter the country
without applying for admission at a designated port of entry.

Okay, further to travel, but on arrival you get free food, air-conditioned accommodation, religious facilities, medical treatment, counseling and top immigration-lawyers, as well as return airfare to religious ceremonies and funerals. You make it sound like Australia is an immigrant haven... from experiences friends and acquaintances shared with me, Australians do not accept immigrants into their society very well unless they are from the UK... I have heard this from Polish, Russians, Americans (of any race), Chileans (of any race), South Africans (of any race) and various Asian groups just to name a few.

Either you bring out the worst in your friends or they are "special". Where did you meet all these disgruntled, rejected immigrants to Australia? My city of Melbourne has the biggest Greek population outside of Athens. Athens is not in the UK. In my immediate neighborhood there are Chinese, Korean, Lebanese, Greek, Indian, Egyptian, South African, Colombian and Iranian, most for over 5 years and are keen to stay.
Regardless I was taking about the treatment of illegal immigrants ("boat-people") by the government.

No sh^t LOL ... I know my geopraphy, and I wouldn't use examples of places I don't know.
As for the people that had the experiences, they are good people, they simply pointed out that they did not feel as welcomed or accepted in Australia as they do in the U.S by a large margin.
