He and another man arrested in the Dominican Republic –Bouzid Redha, 21– face criminal charges in Montreal.

Morrison's tattoos of guns at his side like that do not make him look like a very model citizen. It brings into view that he might have acted in some way as a gangster or hoodlum as that tattoo looks like it is for one.

Montreal police arrested three men near the bank, and they were to appear in court on Jan. 18. Aref Yev failed to show up.

A persons tattoos do not make decisions, nor do piercings or horrible sense of fashion...morals and choices are not tattooed into the skin....my tattooed body is not that of a hoodlum. Mr. Morrison is the victim here, tattooed or not, he stuck up for a woman and was killed for doing so. No white trash, no thuggery..pure human being.

JH your comment is more a reflection of yourself than the people of the DR. If you dislike the DR so, I'm sure their citizens will be fine if you stay away. As for me, I love the country and the people. This story is not about the Dominican Republic, rather it is about Canadians who had a dispute with eachother while they happened to be in the DR. Your hateful comments are misplaced.

People who are due to appear in court like in this case should be blocked from leaving the country. However, what often happens is that people who have dual citizenship quite regularly travel on different passports as it suits them.
I fully agree that judging people by their tattoos is a rather limited and poor criteria (whether or not we appreciate tattoos!). In this case, this young man was to join the army after his studies, following in the footsteps of other family members. Probably interested in artillery (which doesn't make him a criminal). If he was that much of a tough guy, at 19, he wouldn't be taking holidays with his parents...
According to local newspapers, he was NOT a friend of the others. They met in DR and are about the same age, went to the same bar.
Oh yes! one at least must be very sorry he didn't stay home and appear in court here. But hey, he did 2 things in 1 month! One has to live the consequences of one's acts.

My husband is in the military..as noted earlier, this young man was headed into the army..military men often sport grenade, weapon, rank and unit tattoos. I agree that the tattoos are not my cup of tea but the point you're taking does not make sense to me. My body is full of tattoos but I am a teacher and a good person. Even if you are a "hoodlum or a gangster" does that mean it's okay for someone to beat the crap out of you thus leading to your death? tsk tsk . If a woman is wearing tight clothing and looking like a "ho" while she's minding her own business..is it okay for her to be harassed or assaulted on a dance floor? We all need to stick up for each other and do what we know is morally right to help our fellow man regardless of what they look like. I would hope people would help me if i needed it. Your logic is severely lopsided.
The real point: How can you leave when you have a warrant out for your arrest? Previously plead guilty to assault w/ weapon causing bodily harm..gah!
From: United States
I can't believe I really need to explain something so simple any further. Yes if your wearing gangster tattoos people will think your a gangster. Yes if your woman wearing a tiny skirt on the dance floor of course people are going to harass you!
Seriously your a teacher and don't understand something like this? Your logic is severely lopsided.

I am sure these young men wish now that they had not arrived in the DR .. a few days in a prison here would be a very nasty experience but these guys face up to 30 years ..I guess they will be returned to Canada to serve their sentences and that will be no holiday for them either .

I hope the canadian goverment DOES NOT let them serve there time in a posh canadian jail. Let the rot in a Dominican Jail. Cockburn Town.– Five men who secretly boarded a vessel from Barahona, in the Dominican Republic's southwest, and survived five days with very little food and water, were rescued by Turks and Caicos Islands authorities.
Five of nine Dominican citizens, all in their 20s, who apparently were trying to stow away on a barge possibly to St. Martin were found barely alive on the building block-carrying vessel bound for the Turks and Caicos Islands. The men were taken to the Cheshire Hall Medical Center emergency department.

Ok people, as for Jordan.. Hoodlum? Heck NO! Gangster absolutely not! Criminal Record NO!
Bad taste in tattoos...clearly :) but he liked them. He was a really good kid that really loved people in general. He was good to everyone, always protecting the weak and routing for the underdog.
I guess that came from feeling like one himself with dealing with Autism. He would take the time to teach other children to skateboard, and help them with what ever they needed. Something most adults won't do and Jordan never hesitated to. If you came to his home town you would not find one person he was mean to. He died being that same caring person right to the end.
They say do not judge a man by the colour of his skin, well you also should not judge him by the colours ON his skin either.
As for the males that murdered him, no he did not know them, and they are actually Algerians that happen to live in Canada. I would not call them men as that would be an insult to real men everywhere.

I agree momma....others clouded the real issue with senseless and harsh judgments. A man who wanted to help someone in distress..that is it, that is all. To think there are people in the world who think you deserve what you get because you have certain tatts or you look a certain way....horrible character trait. My heart still goes out to this young man and his family..I have never posted so passionately on an online forum. That could have been my brother..could have been my husband...a real man indeed.
