PRESS RELEASE

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico.– A team effort amongst U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) components resulted in the seizure today of 49 bricks of cocaine hidden inside a fiberglass vessel intercepted 12 nautical miles northwest of the western island of Desecheo.

During a Border Security patrol, a CBP aircraft detected a Dominican "Michera" type fishing vessel, approximately 30' long, stationed in the Mona Passage, without navigational lights and two individuals on board.

The vessel rendezvoused with another 20' long, fiberglass commercial vessel with two individuals on board. The subjects on the "Michera" vessel were observed by the CBP aircraft handing what appeared to be bags to the persons on the other vessel.

Both vessels departed, with the 20' vessel taking an eastern route towards Puerto Rico. A CBP marine unit intercepted the vessel 12 nautical miles northwest of Desecheo island.

The vessel was brought to shore where a CBP Field Operations X-ray revealed a hidden compartment. 49 bricks of suspected narcotics were found which field tested positive to cocaine.

Custody of the narcotics and the two suspects was transferred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for further investigation.

CBP Field Operations, Border Patrol and Air & Marine components work together to detect and prevent that dangerous narcotics enter through our borders.

Run-of -the-mill.

Meanwhile, the motherlode made it safely to PR.

49 bricks is small change to smugglers. Not worth the risk.

More and more drugs pour into the Dominican Republic. Corruption is going to mean a lot of broken families. Sad. People really have NO idea how far reaching the effects are of drugs in a community.

President Leonel Fernandez proposed to the United States that instead of providing money for Dominican Republic’s war on drug trafficking, fund the purchase of radars and speedboat, which in his view would be more effective.

Why doesn't the U.S just provide extra Naval, Coast Guard patrols, armed airdromes, awacs air surveillance etc..etc.. 24/7 around the Island that way real enforcement against drugs, weapons and illegals can be achieved.

LOL Radar can only be used for spotting airborne activity and as airborne tracking for interceptions, I can also see it now......speedboats doubling as personal speed boat pleasure cruises.

Thank you President Fernandez for allowing the major traffickers of poison to use the DR as a major distribution point. DR produces many crops but nothing that results in cocaine.

Now the question is why send the drugs to DR and then on to further points? Because Fernandez catered to all criminal elements. He personally is responsible for the decline in the quality of life in all areas in my country.

Fernandez is the most despicable leader DR has ever had. Fernandez is a snake and a low life.

Persons that support the Washington regime morally and financially. They come in all colors and believe in Democracy and the new fascist government. Haven't you heard of this term? It is very popular among the Latinos.

VivaCuba,

The first half BLANK U.S president in history and the last in history...now that's history.

Not this Prez. he has a special socialist Cuban color mentality.

Hasn't radio "Cuba libre" informed you the American Latino vote for your comrade Oh'No"Oblama has dropped and is continuing to drop weekly....just in time for the 2012 elections.

And get this......I can make this post without being arrested.....now try that in your so called Cuba.

The illegal, Barry Soetoro, may get reselected now that he just made the 20 million illegals LEGAL. They will vote for him.

20 million illegals legal ?

That process will take the U.S dept. of Immigration years, not in time for the 2012 elections.

Besides they come to America for a BETTER life and for opportunity's found no where else, their seeking the American dream.

Ever wonder why not Cuba ? In Cuba the only border is a sea of sharks and the fear of drowning, the Cuban navy also uses them for target practice.

American Dream or American Nightmare?

VivaCuba,

The American dream is Cuba's nightmare, sweet dreams.

The U.S has always overcome, you'll see. Never under estimate the American spirit, history proves it over and over again.

Still I don't blame you, you only believe what you've been told [all your life] to think by your socialist government controlled one sided propaganda. Your just a victim or better put unknowingly on a "one track mind".
