Caracas.- Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez has met the Dominicans who shaved their heads in solidarity with him last week. The group members shaved their heads last Thursday in Santo Domingo and travelled to the Venezuelan capital over the weekend to take part in a religious ceremony.

Dozens of people, including Supreme Court President Luisa Estela Morales, prayed for the health of the Venezuelan leader, who is suffering from cancer.

No would not call them "ignorant lambones." They are simply a bunch of inexperienced misguided, idealist youth who found a "cause" for which to support. I would rather have them get involved with misdirected political activities then to take drugs, alchohol, smoke, steal, cheat, rob, practice high risk sexual activitities, get pregnant or stay out all night at night clubs wasting time and energy. At least in the mean time, they are into something a little more "productive" until one day they will wake up, open their eyes and see the light.

Just some practical questions arise:

And who paid for their trip to Venezuela? And their stay and expenses there? Seems obvious that this
circus, is a well planned publicity stunt by the main protagonist and clown, comrade Chavez wisely dubbed: Por que no te callas? By Spain's King Juan Carlos I.

Generoso,

Good point raised. As always they'll be treated like royalty and shown the best hotels, food and sights of Venezuela in order to feed and strengthen their propaganda machine.

I'm still waiting for the public news response of ALL the Venezuelan people and their reaction to Chavez's health issue, not just the well worshiper's, not everybody in Venezuela likes Chavez.

Maybe Chavez's health problem will open his eyes and quit being antagonistic.

Well it's Fair to assume they realized without Chavez and the Petrol Caribe deal with oil prices at the level it is today they would have to give up their scooter in return to the burro as they main mean of transportation. And everyone in the region would simply be kicking a can down the street for their economy could not sustain with oil at a$100+ plus a barrel.

A barrel of oil is now 83USD, Chavez has the lowest gas prices in the world(less than 50cent a gallon) and he is the dominican republics partner in the refinery.

OBVIOUSLY all that was paid by Venezuela which has used the gesture as a way to do propaganda, Do you agree?? now i would say that if you find that to be bad, then ALL propaganda should be called bad, Do you agree?? then i would ask ...who paid for the Sonia Pierre Trip to the Kennedy Prize Award?? is not that the same propaganda style just done from the other side??? same old sh*t isn't it?

On the documentary that i pointed the other day "south of the border" there is a part where Oliver Stone is interviewing the lat Nestor Kichnner, and He said

"i have told chavez many times that he needs 10 or 12 candidates for the presidency not just him, because one man can get sick, die or whatever...with one man the process dies..." and i would say he was absolutely right, to center the power in ONE single person for long time is never good anywhere.

Airgordo,

That's a good thing being is he doesn't trust anyone which is typical of any tyrant historically with the .......... ME, MINE and I mentality, and to think Castro's brother took over, ever wonder why not Maxine Waters ?

Caonado,

Me too I'm left scratching my natural bald spots.

Haven't they seen the Family Guy episode about the handkerchief on the noggin by cancer patients?

That's not bad, a free trip, expenses paid prolly. for a couple of days... Ideology or not they got something out of the ridiculous act.

If Dominican Today was a proper newspaper it would try and find out the real story behind this publicty stunt.

Who are they? Who paid etc etc..

DomLon,

I totally agree, one has to wonder who orchestrated this event in the first place......and why ?

I'm assuming Chavez's illness may be on a one way trip. A practice run for his "exit stage left" ?

And you need a newspaper to tell you that? so according to you is not possible that they have done that by the reason exposed?? i guess that might be beyond what is humanly possible on this world...
