Santo Domingo.- The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will name president Danilo Medina "World Tourism Leader" in recognition of his support for Dominican Republic’s tourism industry.

Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia made the announcement Wednesday, and said in addition to the award for the head of state, the WTO also agreed to manage the Dominican Republic is included in China’s list of "Approved Destination Status,” which specifies the countries its citizens can visit as tourists.

He said he met with UNWTO president Taleb Rifai, who said the organization also wants to establish a tourism observatory in the Dominican Republic, the firs in the Caribbean region. "The UNWTO wishes to recognize and commend President Medina’s support for the tourism sector, which has been defined as the economy’s locomotive."

Garcia, speaking on Hoy Mismo Channel 9, was upbeat from the results on his recent visit to China, the world’s source of tourists, and the reason why he affirms the country needs to become the preferred Caribbean destination for its around 100 million tourists who’ll travel the globe in 2015.

Having spent over 28 years in the Hospitality industry, the award from UNWTO should be applauded. There are literally thousands of individuals around the globe, who could be considered, much less honored. My hat is off to President Medina and his efforts to place the D. R. on the World map as a leader of his peers in the field of Hospitality.

He is blazing new trails that will greatly benefit the people of the D. R.

President Medina. I salute you sir. Stay true to your vision..

Ciao

I think Medina would be gracious enough to say that much of the success has come from years of hard work of the previous administration.. after all Medina has only been in his job for a few months but LF was constantly touring the world, much to the annoyance of many people here , but now all the hard work seems to have paid off .

Josean knows everything , the UNWTO actually sent him a message saying that he had paid them to be given the award ..RoyS ..there is no need to humbly ask because you will be able to hear it all in the acceptance speech ,where I am sure Danilo will say that he is accepting the award on behalf of a large group of people who have worked hard to make the DR a very popular tourist destination ,,,and Josean is grinding his teeth with annoyance ..

Agitator.

Definition: a person who disturbs, causes trouble

Mr. Josean. These are synonyms of what an agitator is....This is you.:

An agent, anarchist, demagogue, disruptor, dissident, dogmatist, firebrand, fomenter, heretic, incendiary, inciter, instigator, leftist, malcontent, partisan, propagandist, provocateur, pusher, rabble-rouser, radical, reactionary, troublemaker, wave maker, zealot.

Blurting out.."He paid for it", clearly exposes your bile, need for attention and ignorance, but particularly, in politics.

I asked you to, please point out to us, what, if anything, makes your boy, Guillermo Moreno, a better qualified legislator than the current one. ..I'm still waiting

Thank you for all the undeserved accolades and allowing me to make your miserable existence even worse!

As to your question:

He left the PLD in 1996 and is the only one to have the BALLS to take Narco-Lieonel to court!

While Saint Danilo put his yellow tail between his PURPLE rearend in 2008 when Narco Lie-onel used Dominican Taxpayers Money to whip his Ass and then allowed him to humiliate him again in 2012 by making accept his mentally deficient wife as his VP.

PS

A president is not a legislator he/she is the Chief Executive of the Executive Branch!

Now go bite a Eye!

"He left the PLD in 1996 and is the only one to have the BALLS to take Narco-Lieonel to court!"

So, you deem Moreno to be a great politician and a savvy administrator based on the fact that he stood up to LF and left the party?

Is this what it's all about? Bravado? .. So you equate a good administrator with being a macho-man,? Just like the other moronic Hippoloco?

..Mr. Josean, you have got a lot to learn. And even then, You'll never fully understand diplomacy and what politics is all about.! Moreno will never be someone who can possibly understand government, much less solve any type of budgetary conundrum or other administrative challenges. We don't need another Hippo in Moreno.

Tell me, just like you, is Moreno also against the building of our Metro lines?

I have to say that perhaps he is honoured with this because he "represents" a country that has...as a group of individuals...moved the country's world profile forward. I cannot say that anyone 6 months into a presidential term is worthy of an award as such....just not possible.

PuntaCanaMike.
Awards are given to a "source" and "being". What one Head of State starts, it is the one in office who gets the recognition when the feat is accomplished.

Same holds true for war. Wars start with one President and end with another. The "standing" President gets the glory. The one who started it, is villanized for engaging his country in war. But the President in office when the war is over, is a Hero.

Getting Bin Laden. One President started the hunt, the one in office took the credit because it was accomplished on his watch. And the reality, is the men and women in the military, working for the government are the force that concluded the mission. They should get the awards, but it doesn't work like that. Unfair? Bet your ass it is.

As Walter Cronkite use to say, "And that's the way it is".

Ciao

Yes he and all the other Dominican Mafia deserve an Award for: For Despite the Government and other Mafia Vultures doing everything in their power to subvert and undermine, Tourism (albeit pathetically infected with poisonous All-Inclusive format) has manage to exist and even thrive in a miraculous way, thanks to exploiting the environment and slave Dominican labor.

Give them a big Fat Award for being the only Caribbean nation that doesn't know that tourism is their only hope.

Ricardolito is right.

You hate Leonel, obviously, and with good reason.

I can relate to that, I don't like Leonel either.

But, Leonel is the past.

Danilo has only been in government for 6 months, and some things seem to be changing slowly.

Every one is noticing the difference.

Why don't you give Danilo the benefit of the doubt, and give him a chance to unroll.

Every thing in our country is not negative.

I understand Moreno is an alternative 4 years down the road.

However, Danilo is a reality of today.

Let us give credit to the positive things in our country, everything cannot be negative.

Unless you, are negative.

Think.

If you curse out everyone that does not agree with your views, is that going to bring more votes for
Moreno ??

I highly doubt it.

Now, now, let’s not be too harsh on Josean. He is a victim of mental and/or physical rape perpetrated by Moreno’s goony boys.!
Josean exhibits all the classic patterns of the “sympathy for the enemy” syndrome. Better known as the Stockholm syndrome. This is when a person gets so totally violated, that he/she loses all sense of reality and lives in a world convinced that : “My man can do no wrong”! And sees everything that threatens that notion as an attack to his beloved master, and fights back resolutely and persistently.

To wit:
Remember the Patty Hearst abduction by the Symbionese Liberation Front?
It was firmly asserted that while Donald "Cinque" DeFreeze (Aka, “ Don the dong”) and other movement members had used a rather coarse version, they did employ the classic Maoist formula for thought control; Hearst was young and apolitical enough to be at extreme risk and, allegedly, it would have even broken many experienced soldiers. Not to mention, Patty’s Pupusa!

In her trial, which commenced on January 15, 1976, Hearst's attorney F. Lee Bailey claimed that Hearst had been blindfolded, imprisoned in a narrow closet and physically and sexually abused, (with gusto)…. Hearst's defense claimed that her actions were the result of a concerted brainwashing program.

In essence, our beloved Josean has been severely victimized (in unmentionable ways), by these bastards and should not be held accountable for his erratic postings. The young lad needs all the understanding we can muster… Please be kind.!

rokete,

Saint Danilo has over 80% of Narco Lie-onel's Criminal associates in is cabinet and administration. He supported a massive TAX MUGGING to help cover up the largest deficits in Dominican history...............A regressive tax structure that makes the poor poorer and stifles the development of a Dominican middle class even more. He showed no backbone and allowed Narco Lie-onel to impose his IDIOT wife on him as his VP.

So how is he any diffrent?

Our country is not negative but the PURPLE NARCOS who have established a mafia dictatorship are!

If you want to give him the benefit of the doubt that's your prerogative; mine is us to keep my size 12 boot up their corrupt ASSES.

As to the comments from the Lie-onel Fanatic and the "USELESS METRO will solve all our problems" Nincompoop, they are totaly irrelevant!
